2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

I gave this iconic Kubrick movie another try to see any reason why so many see it as "profound," "artistic triumph," "Kubrick's masterpiece," etc. All I found was boredom---endless, painfully slow sequences of outer space with grand music, or heavy breathing, or...I dunno what. The "plot" falls off the edge of space, the ending is beyond ridiculous, the whole thing seems as if Kubrick, fascinated by his clever special effects (I give him that), can't let go of them, and never mind making the movie interesting for any part of two hours and nineteen minutes. Never again.
