Godfather Piet S. calls himself referee for criminal groups: 'I'm done with prison'

The mega-trial against the 'The Hague godfather' Piet S. and his accomplices in the drug world begins in the court in The Hague. The Public Prosecution Service has been investigating the 'Taxus' case for four years now. The 66-year-old S. is said to be one of the biggest drug lords in the Netherlands, who managed to stay under the radar for years.
More than twenty suspects have been arrested, partly because agents were able to read the encrypted messages from communication service Encrochat.
I have not been involved in drug trafficking in recent years, he stated on Monday morning during the first day of the substantive treatment of the case against him. After his last prison sentence, around 2008, he thought it was 'enough' in prison. "I'm kind of done with it." In his own words, he was a kind of mediator, a referee, for criminal groups.
