COSENZA Franco Muto, boss of Cetraro and "king of fish", was released from prison on Friday evening from Sassari prison . Muto, 83 years old, had been imprisoned in Sardinia (and associated with the 41 bis regime) since September 2022, after the final Frontera sentence was issued. The decision of the surveillance magistrate of Sassari came following the request of the boss's lawyer, Michele Rizzo, of the Paola court. The lawyer has advanced a request linked to the precarious health conditions of the boss.
Yesterday the decision: Muto left the cell in which he was locked up ready to move to Calabria. The "king of fish" - who has to serve a 20-year prison sentence following developments in the Frontera trial - is considered, by "career" and criminal influence, one of the historic bosses of the region. A capobastone whose figure recurs in judicial documents both in reference to relations with members of the aristocracy of the 'Ndrangheta of Reggio, and because of the links with the Neapolitan Camorra. Starting from the interests on the fish market, the influence of the Muto clan extended to sectors such as the control of extortion and drug trafficking, up to touching - through the interposition of nominees and white collars - the entertainment market along the coast Tyrrhenian. For some collaborators of justice, Muto would also have played a role in the path that led to the entry of sectors of Cosentino's 'Ndrangheta into the ranks of deviated Freemasonry.
