That the ‘Ndrangheta is always ready to diversify its business is known. Now comes the confirmation that organized crime also gets its hands on the most popular sport of the moment: padel.

Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate arrested Marco Molluso a local football coach and the nephew of two bosses.
The Molluso gang is originally from Plati in the province of Reggio Calabria, and has been active for years now in Buccinasco a small town a few steps from Milan which has long since become the northern outpost of the Calabrian clans.

Molluso “had participated in the creation of eight padel courts worth approx 700 thousand euros inside a Sports Center and assigned in concession to an amateur club in Milan”. The plants in question, in the neighborhood Barona were seized, resulting among other things “illegally built and without any prior authorization from the competent offices”.
