A wonderful and original story about "buddy boy" C. C. Baxter (Jack Lemmon) who rents his apartment to his 5 superiors in order to rise the ranks within his company but falls in love with elevator operator Fran Kubelik (Shirley MacLaine). A terrific trio of Lemmon, MacLaine, and Fred MacMurray as Jeff D. Sheldrake, Baxter's supreme boss. A romantic comedy nothing like the drivel we're supplied these days that relies more on romance than comedy (this relies more on comedy than romance). My only beef with the film is Lemmon professes his love for MacLaine over and over again and she never once reciprocates. 8.5/10
