KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL (1052)

Tim Foster (Preston Foster), former cop turned master criminal, recruits three champion-level plug-uglies (Jack Elam, Lee Van Cleef, Neville Brand) to rob a bank. They all wear masks when the meet, the better to prevent ratting-out. Joe Rolfe (John Payne), an ex-con trying to go straight as a flower van driver, becomes a patsy for the holdup. After being roughed up and then released by the cops, Rolfe is determined to get revenge (and a share of the money), even though he doesn't know the robbers or how to identify them. His path leads to a Mexican fishing resort, where they rendezvous to split up the cash. This isn't a sophisticated film noir, but it has plenty of action and many nice twists as identities are gradually found out and alliances shift. Plus, the bad-guy trio is irresisstable. Very good!
