Francesco Coco, former mayor of Roccabernarda, a small town in the province of Crotone, victim of an ambush last night as he was returning home, is still in serious condition.
The man, the 73-year-old man, former carabiniere, awarded the title of Knight of the Republic in 2006, has been fighting for years with local organized crime, in the past he had already suffered serious intimidation. Yesterday, two people with their faces covered waited for him in front of his house and violently hit him with a stick from behind. Now he is in the neurosurgery department of the Crotone hospital.

The position of the two minors, aged 17, one of whom is the nephew of an exponent of the local clans, is being examined by the carabinieri of the Compagnia di Petilia Policastro who, together with the soldiers of the operational department - Crotone investigative unit.
