REGGIO CALABRIA, 20 MAR - He was hiding some weapons, including a rifle, in the den where he was hiding, 67-year-old Fernando Spagnolo, the alleged boss of the 'Ndrangheta fugitive from 2019 arrested yesterday by the carabinieri in Casali del Manco, in the Cosentino area. Considered the boss of Stilo, in Locride, Spagnolo has to serve a life sentence for murder. When he was identified by the military, the fugitive was preparing lunch.

The house where the fugitive had found refuge was protected by some video surveillance systems and alarms. Spagnolo also tried to escape, but was immediately blocked by the carabinieri. The alleged boss, among other things, was in the company of a 46-year-old woman who was denounced in a state of freedom for procuring non-compliance with the sentence.

The carabinieri of the provincial command of Reggio Calabria, who identified and arrested the fugitive, made use of the collaboration of the soldiers of Cosenza and Crotone, who provided their information and knowledge of the territory, with the joint coordination of the Dda of Reggio and Catanzaro, directed, respectively, by Giovanni Bombardieri and Nicola Gratteri.
