The fact that criminals increasingly launder their money via cryptocurrencies is reflected in the latest confiscation figures from the judiciary. This shows that in the past year more than four times as many cryptocurrencies were taken from criminals as in 2020.

Justice took crypto currency worth 8.3 million in 2020 from criminals. The following year, that amount increased sharply: in 2021 it was 34.6 million euros. This was reported by the Public Prosecution Service on Thursday. In 2019, the confiscation of cryptocurrency as an asset for criminals was apparently still in its infancy. Then the judiciary 'plucked' 1.1 million in cryptocurrency.
