The police arrested nine suspects on Tuesday in a large-scale investigation into cocaine imports via the port of Rotterdam. The nine men are suspected of, among other things, importing cocaine, money laundering, non-official corruption and illegal possession of firearms. During the action day, thirteen homes and business premises in Rotterdam, Schiedam, Hoogvliet, Papendrecht and The Hague were searched.

The investigation by the Regional Investigation Service started in March 2021, after several reports were received by the police about the import of cocaine via the port of Rotterdam. Some of the information from the investigation came from cracked PGP messages, which, according to the police, were supplemented and reinforced with classic investigative work.
