“European 'Ndrangheta Connection-Pollino”, imposed 172 years in prison
Twelve sentences and five acquittals for a criminal group that was vanquished in 2019

The Locri court has inflicted a total of 172 years in prison on twelve defendants, at the bar in the trial that resulted from the “European 'Ndrangheta Connection-Pollino” investigation, confirming the accusatory framework of the anti-mafia prosecutor of Reggio Calabria, led by the prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri.

The highest punishment was imposed on Maria Rosa Campagna and Serafino Rubino (30 years each). Antonio Barbaro (7 years in prison), Domenico Barbaro (8 years), Giuseppe Campagna (15 years), Luciano Camporesi (22 years and 9 months), Carmelo Vincenzo Gerasolo (2 years and 6 months), Giovanni Giorgi (14) also convicted years and 8 months); Cesar Steven Linares Ramirez (10 years), Antonio Pizzata (7 years), Vincenzo Salzano (12 years) and Giorgio Violi (14 years and 4 months).

Five acquittals also concern Salvatore Santo Cappello, Roberto Esposito, Domenico Pelle, Giuseppe Pelle and Giuseppe Strangio. The blitz, taken in December 2019 between Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, shed light on the projections of the 'Ndrangheta in Europe and South America, as part of an organic reconstruction of multiple criminal activities carried out on the national territory and abroad, by various exponents of established and dating families of Calabrian organized crime, operating mainly in the heart of Locride.
