To this day many San Franciscans will say Joe Alioto was the last great Mayor. It all started turning to shit after he left office.

Also, in the late 80s & early 90s there were two North Beach bars which were infamous for coke dealing, the Columbus Cafe and Vieni Vieni Lucky Spot. Additionally Vieni Vieni was known for back room card/dice games and distribution of parlay cards.
