OLD

OLD follows a group of travelers who are on an exotic getaway. While there, the hotel manager entices a few individuals with exclusive access to a private and secluded beach. The travelers take the manager up on his offer, only to find that once they are there, they cannot escape and they are aging 2 years for every hour they're on the beach. The performances by the actors were fine, with standouts being Vicky Krieps and Thomasin McKenzie as mother and daughter, part of a larger family who are the main stars. As with all M. Night Shyamalan films, he hedges his bets on the payoff that was in this case, meh. I could buy into his explanation at the end, but overall, this was just an average story with some social commentaries on vanity, the pricelessness of time and family, and making peace with old squabbles. 5/10
