IN THE LINE OF FIRE (1993)

Aging, irreverent Secret Service agent Frank Horrigan (Clint Eastwood) has never gotten over his grief and guilt over having failed President Kennedy in Dallas. Now a rogue CIA assassin Mitch Leary (John Malkevitch) gives him a chance to take a bullet for the current President in a psychological game of cat and mouse, with plenty of high-tech to keep things interesting. It's enlivened by a romance/competition between Horrigan and fellow agent Lilly Raines (Renee Russo). All three principals are excellent (especially Russo) and director Wolfgang Petersen, who made the all-time-great war movie "Das Boot," knows how to keep the action fast and crackling. Excellent thriller.
