John Gotti whacked Tommy Desimone in 1979 and Jimmy Coonan was charged with the murder of Mickey Spillane. Indeed, 1979 was a deadly year in NYC organized crime history, possibly as deadly as 1930-31 during the Castelli-marese War.
I don't see Tony Ducks letting another Family kill DeSimone. He used Varios son and Bruno to bring Tommy D to the "making ceremony". Now the rats like Casso, DArco, the Brooklyn crews weren't involved in the actual hit because they would have reported it. It's said they took Tommy D to the Bronx where he got whacked. None of those major Bronx guys at that time flipped mainly because th is were whacked in the mid-late 80s. I'd say once Bruno and Rugsy delivered him to the Bronx Tom Mix it took care of him using Buddy Luongo's crew.
