Henk R., aka the Black Cobra, was urgently transferred to the prison in Lelystad after a 'birthday GREETING ' with fireworks.
R., who has been detained in the Dordtse Poorten prison facility in Dordrecht since last month, was surprised on Thursday evening with a fireworks display because of his seventieth birthday.
Family and friends lit the fireworks outside the prison walls, which led to quite a commotion in Dordrecht.
It now appears that the mayor of Dordrecht demanded from the judicial authorities on Friday that R. immediately leave his municipality. The Cobra was therefore transported to the Lelystad penal institution yesterday by special transport, his lawyer, Mark Teurlings, confirms when asked.
“It is bizarre that a playful surprise arranged by third parties is charged to him after all that he has experienced without his knowing or being able to prevent it. I therefore strongly protest against the request for the transfer of the mayor, apparently for political gain, ”said Teurlings.
On Monday, De Telegraaf revealed that Henk R., after serving a sentence of eighteen years in the US, is being prosecuted in the Netherlands for a double murder in 1993 in Antwerp. Henk R. was convicted in the US of conspiracy in connection with an ecstasy smuggling. After his transfer to the Netherlands, he is now serving an old sentence for drug trafficking and likely to be sentenced to life in the murder case that the Public Prosecution has started against him.
