On Sunday it is 10 years they killed crime lord Stanley Marshall Hillis, many people said nothing went down in Amsterdam without his consent. Hillis was mentioned in many criminal cases as a person who knew everything. Hillis started his criminal career as a bank robber. He committed a number of robberies together with the notorious Yugoslav criminals Željko 'Arkan' Ražnatović and Kola Kostovski. Hillis quickly made a name for himself in the underworld, mainly because he escaped twice from the prison of Scheveningen and once from the Koepelgevangenis in Arnhem. He also managed to escape from the Bijlmer prison several times .

On February 21, 2011, Hillis was shot at around noon in the Watergraafsmeer in his car. He died on the spot. Hillis is said to have had an appointment with Donald Groen.The National Criminal Investigation Department was aware of this appointment and made sure that a trailer containing two detectives was parked next to the car. Those detectives would overhear the conversation between the two men. When the fire was opened on Hillis, there were several detectives in the immediate vicinity, but due to poor communication, this could not lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. Groen was arrested on his arrival shortly after the murder, but he was later released.
Hillis was killed with 37 bullets .
