Two paper bombs exploded last night in via Vittorio Emanuele in Catania : one in front of the house and the other at the bar of Angelo Zuccaro, 55, brother of the life-sentence boss Maurizio. The mobile team of the Police Headquarters intervened on the spot.

Maurizio Zuccaro is detained after the sentence, which became final on 1 October 2020, to life imprisonment for the murder of Luigi Ilardo, cousin of the mafia boss Giuseppe 'Piddu' Madonia and confidant of the colonel of the carabinieri Michele Riccio, killed in Catania on 10 May 1996 because he had information to have the then head of Cosa Nostra Bernardo Provenzano captured.
