That’s the life of the criminal world, some times you hit and some time you get hit.
Since the 90s, in North America, crime groups are less scared of the mob. They do respect them, because they are big earners, they have alot of contacts and are professional. But street wise, they are not feared lime they used to be.

I completely agree. Especially since they've mostly retreated from the inner city neighborhoods that they used to live in and dominate for the suburbs.
It is a different world today, and most wiseguys who remain in the streets no longer need to fight for the nitty-gritty street rackets as in yesteryear.
