Seizure of 218 kg of cocaine in Montreal from a plane originating in Haiti

A heavy shipment of 218 kilograms of cocaine, worth some $ 27 million, was seized four days ago at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport by the Canada Border Services Agency during a routine operation. The drugs were concealed on a plane from Haiti.

According to Agency spokesperson Bernard Brie, this is one of the largest cocaine seizures to date at this airport.

The file was turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police; no arrests have yet been made.

In 2004, Agency officers at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport made 201 drug seizures valued at over $ 10 million. The value of the seizure from four days ago alone was nearly three times as high.
