acketeering trial Monday, said he obtained $32,000 in credit from Gotti's alleged Mafia syndicate in the 1980s by claiming to be placing bets for the team's famous first baseman, Keith Hernandez, the New York Post reported.
Deluca said he was desperate enough at one point to ask Hernandez for a loan, and the Mets star allegedly came through with $7,000. But instead of giving it to Gotti, Deluca testified he blew the money in Atlantic City, N.J., casinos. He said Gotti's right-hand man, John Alite, allegedly broke Deluca's nose when he discovered the baseball star wasn't backing the debts and then brought Gotti to Deluca's house to meet with his parents.
