(ANSA) - PALERMO, DEC 17 - The Court of Cassation has sealed the maxi confiscation of 100 million euros against Gaspare Finocchio, 89, the building contractor sentenced by the court of appeal in 2007 to 7 years and 3 months' imprisonment for mafia association. The financiers of the provincial command carried out the confiscation order of the prevention measures section, at the request of the DDA. Finocchio was arrested in 2003, together with his son Giuseppe and his brothers Diego and Pietro Rinella, believed to be the top subjects of the Trabia mafia family.
Antonino Giuffrè in his statements said: "The coast from Buonfornello to Campofelice was a land of conquest and destruction" for the mafia that in those years invested in the province and precisely in these circumstances Gaspare Finocchio had accepted the fictitious title of some of the assets of the Rinella family.
Other collaborators of justice, including Salvatore Contorno, Tullio Cannella, Giovanni Brusca and Giovanni Drago, have then affirmed over time that Finocchio was a business partner or in any case an entrepreneur "close" to other mafia exponents of the Cosa Nostra from Palermo, including the Graviano family .
