A guarantee notice was also notified to the mayor of Calatafimi, Antonino Accardo , accused of electoral corruption and attempted extortion, with the aggravating circumstance of the mafia.

Accardo, a retired teacher, was elected a year and a half ago. After those of Castellammare del Golfo, Nicola Rizzo, and Paceco, Giuseppe Scarcella, is the third mayor of Trapani involved in investigations related to Cosa Nostra in recent months.
