The Zito Family of Springfield, IL

Frank Zito was the boss of a small Mafia Family in Springfield, IL that stayed under law enforcement's radar until the fateful Apalachin Convention in 1957.

The Zito Family was a perfect example of a small, nearly perfectly run borgata who kept their heads low while making a lot of cash!...For decades no less.

Very little trouble. They basically operated many of the same rackets as the larger families, but did it in a very surreptitious way.

And Francesco (Frank) Zito was a very well respected "representante", as is clearly evidenced by his long tenure at the top
