In the late 80s and threw the 90s New England lost a lot of steam from people getting arrested and a lot of people getting killed in a power struggle do you guys think if New England had a better boss after ray Sr they would have been more powerfully today

Definitely! But the same could be said for most Families..... LE kicked a lot of ass since mid-1980s forward, not only in NE, but NYC and across the country as well.
The chickens were gonna come home to roost regardless, but obviously a better boss, one with more "skills" could have held the borgata together much better I think. Ray Jr had neither the heart for it, not the talent and organizational abilities to make that happen.
I heard after he was paroled he left the life and went into real estate. Probably a smart move considering what has transpired since that time.
Patriarca should have stayed just a "soldier", or because of the respect of his father been made a "skipper" at best. He would have made his scratch and avoided a lot of heartache. But alas it was not to be.
I thought Nicky Bianco would have made a good boss. I'm surprised he fell so quickly too. I thought he had more on the ball than that.
That’s a very good take I honestly think ray jr never wanted to be in the life I think he just wanted a regular life but his father had other plans and I agree about bianco

New England would have been alot more powerful if Bianco took over even with LE scrutiny. A couple of guys would have still been killed, William Grasso being the top one with all his antics during the 1970s and may have been killed sooner than later. Bianco would have made sure Boston was at least content and not rocking the boat. Bianco would have actually stabilized the family significantly before his arrest and conviction. Angiulo would not have attempted to take over the family, and their would not have been a lot of fiction between him and Larry Zannino in Boston. They would both still go down, but their recommendations on their replacements would have been fully listened to, but may not have been accepted. Bianco would have most likely backed up Russo in a few points instead of Salemme, if the Angiulo, Zannino, and Patriarca Jr thing never happened. Bianca time as underboss and boss showed he was skilled diplomatically as well as business savvy.

Nicky Bianca should have been the boss ..the majority of the family wanted it..but larry Zannino did whatver NY said and backed him ...Nicky Bianca was the guy who was the main handler of the Coias which between that and his gambling and loan sharking made him outside of Jerry Anguilo the most powerful wise guy in the family under Ray Sr
