Anyone else love late 80's and early nineties thrillers?

Talking about movies like Tequila Sunrise, Single White Female, Pacific Heights.

I watched Unlawful Entry with Ray Liotta and Kurt Russell the other day.

Liotta is great in the villain role and Russell's always dependable as the yuppie lead.

Liotta's a cop who becomes obsessed with Russell's wife, and ingratiates himself into their lives, after responding to a break in at their home at the start of the movie.

As you can probably tell, I love the bunny boiler oeuvre; movies like Fatal Attraction and Disclosure.

This has an interesting twist as it's the guy (Liotta) who is dangerously hung up on a woman who he can't have.

She's a beautiful woman.

Good nude scene, another reason to watch it.

As a matter of fact Moe, every 1 of those movies u mentioned above has more than 1 reason 2 watch ,besides the genre itself, Jennifer Jason Leigh & Brigit Fonda (single w. female)Melanie Griffith (Pacific Heights)...& don't even get me started on 1 of the most beautiful woman in the world,,Michele Pfeiffer.....Melanie has sadly destroyed herself w/ xcessive botox..as if getting old wasn't bad enough, some women look great as they age i.e. Racquel Welch, Blythe Danner, Susan Sarandon..etc. why cant some of these ppl. leave them selves alone?? My fav actress,Jessica Lange looks like a fuckin' blown up puppet compared 2 her Tootsie days..what a shame!

Susan Sarandon, Celia Imrie, Helen Mirren and Natalia Nogulich are all very beautiful older women in my twenty something eyes.

Sarandon, in particular, oozes sex appeal. She just keeps getting better.

Susan Sarandon is quest starring on Ray Donovan last season. Possibly also this season when it starts again. I did notice last season she is walking with a slight limp.

TRAFFIK

A passable story about a couple who go away on a romantic weekend for the main star's birthday, played by Paula Patton. I was glad to see Omar Epps in a movie for a change. Looking at his profile on IMDB, I don't believe I've seen him in anything since 1997's SCREAM 2 lol What really bothered me about the film was how selfish Paula seemed to be. You know whenever you're in a situation and you have the ability to get away but your friend or boyfriend doesn't and 9 times out of 10, you go back to help them escape as well no matter what they say? Nope, this girl is the 1 out of the 10 when people tell her to leave or go on without them, she actually takes them up on it and hightails it outta there. 4.5/10

I FEEL PRETTY

From the previews it looked somewhat funny. To be honest, I haven't seen enough of Amy Schumer to have an opinion about her one way or another, but from the few things of her's I have seen, she hasn't impressed me much as a comedian. In fact, I think the actresses portraying her friends, Busy Philipps and Aidy Bryant, were funnier than her (Aidy especially). You can pretty much gather the story from the previews where this is a "love yourself no matter what others say or think about you" feel good story. It was in someways a ripoff I felt of BIG with Tom Hanks. This is supposed to be a comedy, and in a comedy you have only one job, which is to make the audience laugh. If you don't, you're going to fall flat on your face. I'm disappointed to see Michelle Williams wasted in this picture. 4.0/10

THE LOBSTER

This one really surprised me, not only with it's cast (consisting of Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, John C. Reilly and Lea Seydoux) but at how crazy the story is (but it works). The premise is people who are single are taken to a hotel where they have 45 days to find a mate. At the end of that time, if they haven't found someone, they are turned into the animal of their choosing. Again, it sounds a little far out there but I really got into it. I had heard positive reviews about it when it came out but it just didn't appeal to me then. I honestly watched it because I was gearing up for THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER and I wanted to have a little Yorgos Lanthimos double-feature. 6.0/10

THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER

Again, I had heard good things about this when it came out and I just recently saw both LOBSTER and this available on Amazon Prime so I jumped at the chance to watch them both. Another great story where a doctor and his family are being terrorized by a teenager who blames the doctor (once again played by Collin Farrell) for murdering his father since he died on Farrell's operating table. The actors who played his children, Raffey Cassidy and Suny Suljic, do great jobs with their roles and of course, Nicole Kidman always shines in hers. I will definitely have my eye on more of Yorgos Lanthimos' work as he releases them as I was impressed with both of these films. Again, both are on Amazon Prime if you're a member and in the mood for something different. 6.5/10

THE NEW YORK RIPPER

A little less than average 80's horror/giallo film. The title caught my eye as I hadn't heard of this previously. One of the scenes in particular had a very SUSPIRIA feel to it with it's use of colors and lighting, which I quite enjoyed. However, other than that, it was decent. Like any good giallo film, it keeps you guessing right until the very end. My major complaint was the killer would quack and talk like a duck which become somewhat annoying after a while. 4.5/10

SUPER TROOPERS 2

Not a bad sequel for coming in 17 years after the original. Personally, my favorite Broken Lizard film is BEERFEST and I'd like to see that get a sequel but I know that's not going to happen. This was decently funny and if you're a fan of the original, I'm sure you'll enjoy this too. Glad they were able to bring Brian Cox back with the gang. Also, I enjoyed Seann William Scott and Damon Wayans Jr. cameos. 5.5/10

Just watched Thief with Jimmy Caan. Not a bad movie. Liked the early 80's cars and scenery in the movie.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

This is what Marvel has been building up to for the past decade and I thought they did a really good job with it. The script was strong and humorous. I was a little concerned because sometimes when you have too many characters it can feel bloated and not come across as good as it should have, ala X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and SPIDER-MAN 3. I was really impressed with the way they were able to balance the massive amount of characters and their storylines. It leaves on a pretty good cliffhanger, which is to be expected. Very excited for part 2 next year. Finally, Josh Brolin slayed it as Thanos! His makeup and effects were spot on and he was my favorite part of the movie. 8/10

TULLY

I kind of felt the Tully character has the same sort of free spirit as JUNO. Which shouldn't come as much of a surprise since this movie was written by Diablo Cody and directed by Jason Reitman who both respectfully wrote and directed JUNO. I enjoy Charlize Theron's work and mad props to her for putting on 50 pounds for the role. According to Theron she would eat In-N-Out for breakfast and wake up at 2am to eat cold macaroni and cheese that was on a table next to her. She was literally forcing herself to eat, not only to gain the weight but to maintain it. Talk about a dedicated actress. Also, it took her a year and a half to finally take all of the weight off. Other than that the movie was kind of so-so but I gave it a bit of a higher score because the end did have a pretty interesting twist that I did not see coming. 6/10

OVERBOARD

Another remake that Hollywood continues to churn out falls flat on its face. This is more of a family comedy, which is what I was expecting, but the jokes were pretty lame and only a few times did I actually laugh. A feel good story about how not to allow money to go to your head and to always treat people the right way. The supporting cast is weak with the exception of Mel Rodriguez who plays Bobby. He plays the role of Eva Longoria's husband and they own a pizza shop and construction company together. Bobby gives Leonardo (Eugenio Derbez) a job building a pool while Anna Farris has him living with her, fooling him into thinking he's poor and married to her with 3 kids. Anna Farris is better than this. I hope she gets offered better movies. 4.5/10

The original "Narrow Margin" 1952...way better than the 1w/Gene Hackman & Anne Archer..but Archer way sexier than the original gangster moll.....& "Run Silent, Run Deep" which I could watch @ least 1nce a yr.

BREAKING IN

Gabrielle Union takes her 2 children to her father's house after he recently passed away in order to move everything out to sell it. During this time a group of 4 individuals intend to steal money that is in a safe somewhere in the house. One of the robbers has a conscience and you can pretty much guess where it goes from there. Very little backstory is given to Gabrielle and her family so I found it hard to be emotionally invested in them during their ordeal. Billy Burke plays the main villain, Eddie, and he's really the only minute redeemable aspect of the film. In addition, a weak script delivers very little in terms of suspense or thrills. 4/10

LIFE OF THE PARTY

This was a pretty decent comedy. I really enjoy Melissa McCarthy's work as she's one of my favorite comedians and she usually doesn't disappoint, even if the movie does. This one works and has a pretty decent supporting cast including Julie Bowen, Gillian Jacobs, Stephen Root, Maya Rudolph and Chris Parnell. If you've already seen AVENGERS and were still wanting to get out and see something new, I'd give this a chance. 5.5/10

Just watched it. 50s Scenes were cool, but a gray headed Stewart was unexpected.

Last night watched The Pride and the Passion with Sinatra, Sophia Loren, and Cary Grant. Alot of people don't care for it, but I've always liked it. It is based on historical events although they took liberties. Most critics didn't care for the casting. Sinatra does play a little to much like a street wise Hoboken guy although it all takes place during the Napoleonic Wars. Loren must have had an 18 waste at the time.
