Why did the commission even bother recognizing the west coast families when they clearly didn't want to do business with them? It's obvious they preferred the Jewish gangsters like Siegel and Coen to represent them out west. I know in Roselli's book he talks about vouching for Dragna. Why? I made the mistake of buying that Lanza book. There's like no information about him. Most of the book was about well known mob stuff elsewhere around the country. Did Lanza ever do anything mob related? Same for San Jose.


we're getting off topic again,but is the Lanza book really that bad? it received some negative reviews on amazon. i read the beginning,so far what ive read is fascinating and well researched,with lots of historic factoids,and tidbits i havent seen anywhere else. the arthur also interjects her own personality into the book,which is fun. even though i'll admit i didn't learn a lot about lanza yet, there's some good info on the history of o.c. in SF.

That SF book just had information that has been known and available to the public for years. Frankie Cigar's kid was going to write a book about SF, but decided not to. San Jose family was going to have three books over the years, Tony Ditri passed away in 2005, Johnny D decided not to, and an author got a lot of information from Salvatore Marino and a few others, but changed his mind when he became good friends with some of those guys. You really can not blame the guy, maybe he will write the book, after those members passed away. Who knows.

I'll bet it's the police discouraging these guys from writing these books. Probably why the Lanza's Mob author didn't have much since the DeJohn murder. Bay area law enforcement is gung ho about supposedly not allowing the mob there.

Vacari, also been meaning to ask. What do you know about Bones Remmer, the man in my profile pic? I bought an ebook about the history of the mob in Reno, which is kind of lame, but there was a lot about him. I know he was a big bay area guy.
