Continuing my journey through my whole music collection, some funny Ray Charles songs: "Hide nor Hair" and "Them that Got."

Now I'm going through Johnny Cash songs from the 60's and thereabouts. I've generally been listening to each of my albums twice, with bonus plays of tracks I really like. Cash in the 60s is just all bonuses: Folsom Prison Blues, the novelties One Piece at a Time and A Boy Named Sue, message songs Singin' in Vietnam Talkin' Blues, What Is Truth, and Man in Black, the romantic Flesh and Blood, and Kristofferson's Sunday Morning Coming Down are all just about perfect.

It's not really a song but I just went to a concert with my daughter and this is what the youngins do nowadays. I was cracking up. This was at the 21 Pilots concert at The Forum in LA.

I knew Ludwig Beethoven, I llked the guy, he would not spring for a cappochino at starbucks though, CHEAPO.

listen to billie holiday her songs of the late thirties, one in particular, "strange fruit" song made in 1937 I believe,

about lynchings in the south, it will make you cry.

no station would ever play it.

I know the song, I haven't listened to Billie Holiday's version in a long time. I had Nina Simones Greatest Hits album on the other day, she does a version which is really nice but Billie owns that song

Binnie,

Did you ever hear the disco Beethoven song? yes, disco.

A Fifth of Beethoven?

"Strange Fruit" will in fact make most people shed a tear. I heard the song when I was a kid, not knowing what it was about, and was scared by the way it sounded. Was saddened when, as a teen, I found out what she was singing about. People who did those things were worse than Isis. They staged lynchings with their women and kids around.

You're going to stop because you realize you're convincing no one that you're a cholo, or that you even know any.

Nothing's wrong with oldies. I just don't listen to them. My parents and relatives always had them on so as a kid I liked them but I grew up on mostly rap. Most cholo rap is garbage though.

Here's a lowrider oldie I really like. It got all hipster cool when it was on Astronaut Wives Club last year, but I liked it when only Art Laboe played it.

Disco 5th of Beethoven is the soundtrack of my early childhood. My parents had the Saturday Night Fever double fold out album. Then again, whose parents in my generation didn't?

I haven't seen Saturday Night Fever all the way through since it came out at the movies, but if I'm flicking through channels and hit on a disco scene I'll stop and watch every time. It's mesmerizing.
