I came across this BW 1949 movie called Stromboli. It's the name that attracted me. It starred Ingrid Bergman. I just watched minutes of it off and on. Stromboli is the name of an Italian island. I'm not sure what the movie was about, but apparently, Bergman starred as a women who married a fisherman to get citizenship after the War and her efforts to integrate into Italian society.

Again, it was the name that got my attention. It's not just what's for dinner.

When A Stranger Calls Back(1993)

Made for TV movie but much scarier than the likes of Scream.

Sort of movie you should watch alone, only works the first time of course, but has a spooky atmosphere.

Gravity - interesting but a bit far-fetched. The only actors in the movie were good.

Just happened to start watching Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocal and admit, tho not necessarily a Cruise fan, I am really enjoying it. I think I only saw the first MI movie and I did like that as well. Lots of action, hi-tech stuff. Sort of Bourne-ish but I do like Bourne movies better.

I know that we all lampoon the casting of George Hamilton as Michael's lawyer in GFIII and Eli Wallach as Don Altobello. However, I watched (again) part of The Conqueror starring John Wayne as Ghengis Khan. Madonne! John Wayne at the height of his popularity being cast like that. That's the all-time example of just downright goofy casting.

Oli,

If I'm not mistaken wasn't Wayne also in a biblical movie that he seemed really miscast? Can't think of it.

Watched the first of Sergio Leone's Dollar Trilogy, A Fistful of Dollars with Clint Eastwood last night. Pretty good film not as good as Good Bad and the Ugly.

Tale of two cities fantastic movie. They made a musical of it some years ago. I am still amazed it was only on Broadway for a year.

Watched GFIII a couple of nights ago. I never understood why was the Nevada home in ruins in the first few minutes when Michael is reading the letter to his children. I understand seeing him sitting in his chair smoking a cigarette as his hair starts to grey. I take it that he is insulated with all of this power and wealth, yet he has nothing. He isn't legit, his wife betrayed him, he had his brother killed, and he continues "my father's way of doing things". But I never understood why all the flooring is warped and the floor rafters are exposed. After that cigarette did he just get up and leave the house for good? Was there a bomb? Wtf, I always thought that estate was so beautiful.

In the spirit of October, I saw The Green Inferno.

It was well done for the type of movie it is but do not see this unless you have a very strong stomach. Even knowing what it was about, I was unprepared for the graphic nature of one particular scene.

Decent generic 90s slasher movie.

I haven't "just" watched it, but I recommend the movie adaptation of Stephen King's Christine. One of the better King adaptations.

The Wraith is another great 80's horror movie.

I plan on watching both over the next few days.

Speaking of King, I think it's AMC that is gonna have all King day (or week), on or around Halloween. OR did it already happen and I missed it? LOL Yea I see it was last week. rolleyes I saw previews and lineup includes: It, The Shining, Misery, Dead Zone, Cujo, Carrie Pet Sematary. Great if you're a King fan. smile

TIS

Here's the whole AMC lineup, not just King.

American Werewolf In London, The Omen, among my favorites too. smile

The ending of Pet Sematary was one of the most f**ked up things I ever seen.

Good movie. Has more emotional depth than a lot of horror movies.

I must have seen Misery a hundred times. Great movie.

Saw, "The Intern" last night with the Mrs. Great movie. Satisfies the "chick movie" for the spouse but enjoyable for guys. Had some real funny scenes. DeNiro was great and once again real funny.

Yea, it was definitely creepy. My daughters and I still remember the creepy kid saying "I wanna play with youuuuuu" and still will jokingly say it to each other. smile

Speaking of King, don't know if you remember (or saw) the move "Maximum Overdrive", based on his short story, called "Trucks." Every time that's on, the listing description says "Kings self-admitted most moronic story he ever wrote." (something to that effect. lol) I did see the movie but I think only once, years ago. Evidently King is right. Ha ha

King has a new book "Bazaar of Bad Dreams" coming out in a week or so.

It's a collection of 20 short stories which is a selling point for me.

Mr. Mercedes was a good concept with a flawed execution and I wasn't really sold on the follow up Finders Keepers, but I plan on picking up this one.

There is a new series on Amazon prime my son was telling me about it. In it Germany and Japan won world war 2. Except there is proof around that they lost and its trying to be covered up.

Anyone seen it?

Finally saw Sicario. Awesome movie. Probably the best I've seen this year and one of the best crime movies I've ever seen. Very gritty and, far from turning away from the ugliness, looks right at it. The plot is unique and not entirely what you'd expect. The music is great and really adds to the feel of it all. Easily 4 stars. No surprise it has 93% on RT.
