Stop living in dream land, they're losing power by the year.

sctually they are not,,,they are gaining power. Big difference. Like I always said if you read what the feds say your a fool in the first place for believing one who rely on rats and informants so they wont go to jail !!! That automatically makes them unreliable thats what some judges and lawyers labeled the rats and informants.

Mike they might be out the light as far as day to day involvement and being hands on like Bobby Russo and Spunky might be but they are active if ask me. I mean if you lend out money give advice, give opinions, still involve with some that they confide in, I mean how would we know Vinny is Capones man behind the bookmaking. I mean we wont unless Capone saids it right but he Vinny dont deal with Capone that was just an example but for those who he do deal with, since they are not ratting because of the people he choose to deal with like a simone and limone and a nephew of lammatina's. I mean he got suspected of lending money to limone co defendant henry salvati not to long ago. Not to mention the political connections I wont even get started but a few for begginers....Sal Lammatina, Joe's kid, carlo Basile, whos father was an longtime associate, sal dimasi who was house speaker and employed over 20 made or associates from here to springfield, and petrucculii and a few others in tewksbury and worcester.
Mike, limone is tied in through and through....you talikng about a guy who got furloughs and bail appeals in the early 80's and got right in the mix of things. Insane but he is very clever and old school so that 30 years may of did him some good.... All in all in my opinion the feds will always have the upper hand but New England is in great shape. Not to many significant indictments. I mean everyone can come out and get right in to things from Mannochio, the dinunzio's, lato and even pretty matty is home so big players have alot of time rebuild considering the events. Second there are many people who keep getting made, many connected people who can be made, The involvement of unions, politics, white collar crime and I tell you gambling and extortion like the big digs, stip clubs skimming and whatever loose scams. I mean 5,000 a month from 10 to 12 strip clubs adds up never mind all the other scams.
My only issue is the bridging and developing the new generation. If they grew up around made guys and connected guys they will be fine, hopefully. But for the other guys who grows up in drug infested everett, malden, lynn, saugus, revere, winthrop, eastie, danvers and so forth well they are in the right area as hundreds of connected guys reside in those areas and rich of the lifestyle but the question is will they keep their nose clean and be groomed properly. I know its hard as drugs is a fortune 500 business but its not the illegal of choice if you want to last. ESP in that life.. Just my knowledge and thoughts

Joe Russo actually makes a lot of solid points. I'm from the area and there really is more to what's going on out here besides what you read in indictments. No offense Tommy Gambino but the Feds aren't the end all be all on knowledge of activity. Not to mention they're opening a casino smack in the middle of all these connected areas joe Russo mentioned, and connected guys have already been reported making money off the land deals with the developers.

So although things will never be as they were when Ray Sr and Gerry A were running things, to dismiss the region as nothing but "junkies and rats" shows how much you don't know. Just saying, there's more to it than what you read online.

Like a guy in England would know a cannon from a canoli

Where are you from? It's common knowledge that The Patriarca family aren't 'stronger then ever' you utter spastic.

I grew up in West Roxbury, my grand parents lived in Rosindale for 50 years and finally move to the suburbs, Dedham (...lol) 10 years ago. while in college and afterwards I lived in Allston and Brighton and actually saw Frank Salemme and his boys out and about many times at the old Channel nightclub that was turned into a strip joint breifly in the early 90's. It's the main reason I got interested in LCN. Seeing him roll in there with 8 or 10 guys and act like he owned the place (I guess he sort of did) was like out of a movie.

How is it? I saw others with certain mobster names so I thought, why not? I wouldn't piss on these guys if they were on fire, unlike you and Joe who wish them well, exaggerating there power is just sad.

I didn't say the feds are the be all and know all. I'm not saying New England are on there last legs, they have at least 40 made guys, they keep making guys in Boston, but the talent pool is really diminishing, they have made men junkies who are still active, which is incredible. They also have a lot of capable old timers but once they go there in serious trouble.

Joe Russo.
Enjoy your contributions but find the enter key once in a while.
Please.

And Tommy's right.
NE are NOT in good shape.
To insinuate or state they're growing/strong/renaissance etc is fanboy dreaming.

There are zero FACTS to support this.

ZERO.

First Boston itself has many junkies as every major city do and drugs is drenched in every suburban city or town across the country that just the world we are in but there are many illegal guys who dont drugs and they are real young so your statement is not even close to making a point. As far as being a fan I am not. I was born and raised in the north end. My family and I mean people in my household is of that life so, wantin them to fail is not something I want at all. It might not be right but hey calling a mexican a wetback aint either. the towns and cities close to boston even 35 to 50 miles out the cities has connected guys, then your close to worcester and you do another 25 to 50 miles from worcester and you have springfield so is it fair to say that the selection pool is bigger than you imagined. The you have connecticut who has like 4 families in that state and rhose island which 60 to 70 percent of the state is italian. so to even think that the selection pool is small is just a ignorant idealogy and shows that someone may really know nothing.
Sonny you say Facts right ? I mean the indictments is self explanatory. No one is away for more than what Pretty Matty went away for. And he still in his 60's thats prime age. And on top of the low time spent in jail not one rat gave up significant information. I mean not for nothing, the war of the 90's who featured 90% non made guys, all doing big numbers and some are just getting home... so the only thing is how do we know they are making people ? I mean I mentioned at least 6-8 names in Providence right !! In Boston they are always rebuilding I mean East Boston alone is a factory. So

Who said the selection pool was small? I said TALENT pool, how many of these young guys are actually capable.

Members of your family are in the life and your on here talking up the New England mafia, wonder how they feel about that.

I know you guys might a bit of deniable but I am not pumping no ones head with air here. Thats just whats happenening. I mean the gangsters controls the night life, they control unions, they control garbage, they control whatever you think. I say yea they are nasty and violent but hey....You rather bet online to vegas or go to the corner store and scratch a ticket than go to your local bookie huh? You might want to run your own bar but not knowing the licenses gets approved by a city council thats a puppet to the local hood at the socail club on the corner !! No wonder that license was so expensive !!!! I mean anyway you look at it, they are making a dollar. I mean for crying out loud thay had a piece of one of the biggest construvtion projects in the country. I know one non union company that had to pay 2 grand a week just to work on it. The carnivals and fairs in the summer...I mean Marshfield fair a huge fair in the south shore... I know for a fact that have to pay a certain state rep a few grand just to get it approved and the fair has been going for at least 7 decades and they been kicking up since it started. Never mind how sonny boy got pinched for extorting the fairs in revere, saugus, everett, chelsea and etc...5 grand to get the permits, another 5 to get the machinery and a grand a week. I dont want to even get started on canteen machines, pin balls machine in every bar or store...And they couldnt even make a movie in Mass or Rhode Island because the locals wasnt allowing them to use their machinery or even work their sites without kicking up. Even when a made guys nephew down in Providence was in acting he couldnt get his old man to get the old man to lay off a little bit. So to say they are done.....Think again I know....

So

Even in areas where there is still a large Italian population, the question also becomes one of assimilation into mainstream society, i.e. how many of these Italians have any desire to join the mob nowadays? That's the biggest part of the attrition of the mob which, in turn, is the biggest reason for it's decline - far more so than competition from other crime groups or even law enforcement.

The New England family continues to maintain approximately 40-50 total members, and the mob activity in the region has been a continual presence over the past 15 years, but one can't ignore membership getting older (they likely can't make guys fast enough to stave off the attrition) or the overall state of the family slowly getting weaker.

JoeRusso I've always read your posts on here and found them very informative, just disagree on NE growing in power.

The Skipper/UB in providence who flipped, Bobby Deluca. He said there are only a handful of active made guys in Providence, makes me think Baby Shacks didn't make many people.

JoeRusso is a straight shooter. The North End is not a big place . Neither is East Boston or Revere. If you grow up in the middle of everything and your friends and relatives live the life and you still to this day cavort with these same people you grew up with , went to school with, you just know. We're not talking New York or Chicago here it's Boston. Plus any information YOU have from reading is after the fact . Joe is in the now. Seriously though the guys today couldn't shine the shoes of the guys from back in the 50's ,60's and 70's. Once coke made it's presence in the cowboy 80's it was all downhill from there. With Massachusetts and other surrounding states clamping down BIGTIME on opioids it's "smack" time again. More rats are born with every pinch.

Colin Sullivan: "What Freud said about the Irish is: We're the only people who are impervious to psychoanalysis."

Cincotti said: "They don't have the scruples that we have." Zannino agreed. "You know how I knew they weren't Italiano? When they bombed the fucking house. We don't do that."

Ivy League you are right...The desire to be into orgsnize crime is getting smaller and smaller. I agree but what, In my opinon, strives the criminality is one, the fact that many of these kids are exposed to that life simply because they flirt with many ventures such as gambling, drug dealing, skimming, etc and that open doors for those who are wise ...second for those whose uncle/father/brother whoever, was involved gives them a advantage into knowing people and getting involved in some manner. And the third is my strongest belief that, who dont want to be involved in skimming union, politicians, connections worldwide and having the opportunity to take on bigger avenues than one who is just a regular criminal with tho no access to many outlets. Thats a huge advantage knowing "hey this degenrate in lowell owe us 25 thousands bannanas, we want you to take over his resturaunt and use your construction company to rebuild it...I mean that dont happen to a regular joe shmo who just did 7 years for whatever and has no plugs.
I think that they made a great number of people since mannochio take over.... I really believe its more than 50 more like 65-75 no more than that.... With the names I mentioned and the other people who got made with example dinunzio kid..I dont know how many other people was made...Do any of yous ? That ceremony right there brings number never mind the fact some of his buddies and relatives probably are fondling with the life and that opens doors for the friends and their friends and the cousins and their cousins and their friends and so on....So I believe I mentioned 10 -12 people who is new button men and who ever else ...But yea Ivy sad to say your reasons are very more likely to occur than my "wishful" thinking sort of speak

Thommy Gambino, I dont believe Bobby Ratluca for one reason,,,He was on the street for two fuckin minutes before he flipped so what does he really know....By the time he got upped he flipped in no time...So what ceremony did he really attend ? I mean how many new associates and made guys did he venture with. I only know and heard of a few which is Theodore fuccilo who was newly made as of 2011, and Steven Morairty who I believe either is on list to be chosen or just got made but all in all Bobby wasnt out or informed enough with the newer crowd to be informative about the who's who's. I mean not for nothing 10 -12 old timers sounds about right but even then Ray sr has so much made guys down there who the hell knows whats really going on beside Bobby was a Salemme guy he just grew up in Rhode Island,

Russo usually knows what the hell he is speaking about....Boston seems to have a new wave wanting in...there are guys like Fat Boy Costa that never even get mentioned...and if the books opened up I wouldn't be surprised if he got a button or two added to his crew. Carmen is home....next few years could build something.

Despite what Wiseguy and Tommy is saying, Joe Russo isn't the only one. There's also someone actually from the area over on the Real Deal forum, who's usually been pretty reliable, Luca Brasi, saying the same things about New England/Boston/Providence in the modern day. They aren't as extinct or defunct as these two are trying to imply. Guys are getting out of prison and coming home, and according to him, again, the guys been pretty reliable before, while there isn't a million and one Italians desiring to join the mob in those areas, there still a lot of young men who are aspiring to be apart of the organization and doing books and having crews under other guys. He does say that "crews" aren't the kind of what you'd expect in the past, but moreso a couple of guys doing their own thing and have no problem with passing up an envelope or two to a made guy in the area. Sooo, yeah...

Wonder whose in charge of the Worcester area. Its been mobbed up forever but that guy Carlo died and the whole Springfield crew flipped or got wiped out. Patriarca has cousins up here but there all super low key and have legit businesses all over. I mean there just to much gambling money and I see show fila track suits down the street at this dirty strip club . only in the day or early then gone. You can't have a strip club in new england with out a silent partner. Can't been like that since the dinosaurs.

Where did I imply they were nearly extinct, I acknowledged how active Boston are.
