I remember reading that Reagan, after his presidency when his Alzheimer's had kicked in, would spend his time fishing the leaves outta his pool. Hey get this I went to the dentist three days ago. I did not feel anything but Yestarday I had a black eye. I did not even notice it. I like to wear sun glasses even in the house. I have been doing that for over 60 years

Any way my wife notices it. My wife got me away from being a total street guy to appreciate the other things in life like the arts.

But I think I had an influence on her as well

She actually tells me to go back to that dentist and punch him in the face for giving me the black eye that does not even hurt.

So I tell her ok but I won't do it I will get some gang bangers to do it for me.

Footreads, you are hilarious My friend took her 8 yr old niece to the dentist and the dentist didn't give the kid novacaine cuz she didn't want it. Well, once that drill started drilling my friend heard a ruckus and went in there. She took her niece out of the office only to come back an hour later with ME, and HER MOTHER. We got a hold of that dentist and as I held his tie she got a nice solid punch. The guy knew he deserved it. What a dumbass! (This was b4 cell phones, that would have made a funny youtube vid huh)

Today is my wife's day to complain about everything. The kids never come over. We are not seeing enough of our Grand children.

Me I say when she says the kids never come over I say good who wants to see them their boring people. My son throws a bachelor party with strippers for one of his friends. I know his friend since he was a little kid. I was a soccer friend with his father before he kicked off. He does not invite me to the party. That pissed me off they have been over my house for dinner barbques. We talk about everything with his friends soccer everything.

My son did not think I wanted to go. I told him you know how long it's been since I had a lap dance. I tell him way over a month.

Day off today. Home alone, chilling nicely...until 10am when my mother (knowing I am off today of course) rang me with the first crisis of the day. She can't use her house phone properly to ring out...I explained to her that she was using the same phone to ring me. This set her off on a 15 minute rant on modern technology, then can I go over and sort out ringing the vet cos she thinks her cat might be poorly. Deep breaths needed....

Enjoy your time alone. I retired more then ten years before my wife did. I need time alone I am not bored being by myself I like it.

After my wife retired she thought we have to spend every second together. That is not me she should have know that about me by that time.

When we first started to go out. The first time we made it together she want to hug and cuddle. I am not into that shit. I wanted to leave and I did leave went out and shot pool.

When she first retired I could not get any time alone. So I would get up in the middle if the night to be alone on my computer. Then later got the freaking IPad best thing since bullets.

Aging parents can be a stress - deep breaths mandatory. When my mother was slipping into dementia I would get calls about turning the TV on. Mom wouldn't remember that to shut it off the previous night she had pulled the plug. My brother used a roll of duct tape to affix the plug to the socket and wall. Over this wad of tape he placed a sign, "DO NOT TOUCH". It worked. Good luck.

I went across to see her and she was on her way out. My cousin was taking her out for lunch. Nice gesture from my cousin but my mother never sees her for months at a time then she swans back in for a couple of weeks, is all over my mother and then slips off the radar again for a good time. My mother then rings me asking if I have upset my cousin or anything?? I remind her that this cousin is 20 years my senior and apart from occasionally seeing her at my mothers place I have no contact at all with her. Mother then tells me I should spend more time with my kinsfolk!!!! Cant make this stuff up can you?

Yogi, I know exactly how you feel. My mother lives with me, and I can't tell you how difficult it's getting. She was driving until earlier this year, then crashed into three parked cars, but luckily didn't hurt anyone. Taking her car away put her in a deep depression and furthered her dementia, but we had no choice. My brother tries to help, but he lives an hour away. My other brother is useless and hasn't seen her since April. The bulk of her care falls on me, even though I've had my own health issues to deal with.

They become quite self-centered, like three year olds. I wish you the best of luck. My husband just tells me to remember that today is worse than yesterday but better than tomorrow.

Anyone got any history with a bad back? Last week I picked up our new puppy ( forgetting he is bigger than our 3 year old dog already)and felt a pop in my back. Have been crippled with pain ever since. Of course being a steadfast Brit I have just turned on the old stiff upper lip and got on with it, but it is bloody sore. Is this old age starting to rear its ugly head? Is that the reaper I see laughing in my dreams? Or do I just eat too much cheese before I go to bed?? I don't know anymore....
