Sorry if this topic has already been discussed. I havnt seen anything on it. Alphonse trucchio was extremely young for the amount of power he held with the gambinos. Im sure a lot of it had to do with his father ronnie. What are your thoughts on his involvement while hes away for the next 6 years?does he still run his crew presently and whats his role when he gets out?

One of the leaders of the Gambino organized crime family of La Cosa Nostra, was sentenced to over 10 years in prison by the Manhattan federal court on July 26. Alphonse Trucchio—one of the youngest mobsters to be made a captain in mafia history—previously pledged guilty on Feb. 17, for narcotics trafficking, assault, illegal gambling, and loansharking—which is the collecting of credit at extortionate rates. “They can’t take my honor,” said capo Alphonse Trucchio, 35, as marshals escorted him from the courtroom after sentencing in Manhattan Federal Court. Although this mafia traditionally purportedly spurned drug trafficking, Trucchio looked over a large drug trafficking ring, which operated primarily in Queens, New York. He rose to power after his father was given a life sentence in 2005. He joined the crime family at age 20, and became its leader 10 years later. He is currently 35 years old. “Alphonse Trucchio rose to a leadership position in the Gambino crime family at a young age, and his future may have seemed bright—but now the life he chose has led, as it has for so many others in the mafia, to living behind bars,” said Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.
In addition to time behind bars, Trucchio has also been sentenced to five years of supervised release. He must pay $100,000 in forfeiture, and a $500 special assessment fee.
Found that on five families website. Not sure of the power he holds though.

Hello everyone I have a question about Trucchio and his crew. Is his crew the wealthiest and most active in the Gambino family? They are in to everything and there has clearly been a ton of activity lately. Also would you say that his crew rivals any of the Westside crews in terms of influence and wealth? Hope to hear back.

While it is interesting to read, this demonstrates the "members of today's La Cosa Nostra." This guy would have disappeared if old timers like Carlo was in charge. I have read about him and he is a great earner, but obviously he doesn't care or his superiors embrace narcotics trafficking. The mafia was a lot stronger, more secretive and had way more power in the old days...amazing how times have changed...for the worst. Its amazing how they've adapted with the times, they're criminals and the old-timers were too, if Carlo or the chin were around now they wouldn't kill a made guy who's bringing in a good amount of money. Times change for the worse because police have learned from past mistakes, have more resources and Info. To say there not as honourable or don't have the brains the old-timers do is a stupid fantasy imho, crime was easier back in the day than it is now. Your always saying todays gangsters don't hold a candle to the old guys but the old guys around today are still making them so...

I agree that Alphonse may not have been made under Carlo but they would have taken his cash all the same. I would go out on a lam here and say when Alphonse is on the street he may be in the top 10 most influential guys in the entire mob. Please feel free to refute me as this is just my opinion.

I do realize Cefalu was in to heroin...and if it is still a big part of their business, their future isn't looking bright. I do know it is 2014, but the Feds don't play around with narcotics trafficking, plus you got U.S. Customs and the DEA involved, on top of the FBI. I'm sure people were saying that about the 5 families in the 80's when loads of mobsters were getting pinched for drugs. But there still here doing there thing, obviously on a smaller scale but it's not like there going away anytime soon. Now there influence in the unions is diminishing, outside of the basics like gambling, loansharking and fraud, drugs is the only other place to make serious money.

You are right, but Carlo did not make Angelo until later in his life. I wonder if when he was in his prime if he still would have made him. As you said Angelo was related by marriage to Dellacroce but he had not gotten as heavily involved in selling heroin until after Carlo died. I am sure he sold some but it was not as blatant as it was under Castellano.
You know what I retract my statement I think Carlo would have made him lol. I mean Carmine Galante got made by JB, and Christy Tick a known rapist was made so why not Trucchio.

I don't see why he wouldn't have been made under Carlo, he's clearly a very capable guy. You've got to remember that Carlo made guys like Quack Quack, a moron who would talk about everything over a phone. Obviously Angelo was Dellacroce's nephew, but still Carlo must have known what he was like. I thought castellano made quack quack

Yelling about "honor" to a sitting federal judge and marshals strikes me as a little less than low-key and smart.
Should probably ask Mr. Kierney. I guess if you're Italian, you should be in prison. I've read the RICO Act, and I can tell you it's more appropriate... for some of those guys over in Washington than it is for me or any of my fellas here

The mob has been heavy into heroin since the French Connection in the 1950's. Marcello and Traficante were importing drugs from South America. Genovese, Tommy Eboli, Galante, Natale Evola, Carmine Trumunti, and Paul Sciacca all did prison time for drugs while serving as boss or acting boss.

They are in to everything and there has clearly been a ton of activity lately. Also would you say that his crew rivals any of the Westside crews in terms of influence and wealth? Hope to hear back. The feds did say that the Trucchio crew was the largest and most active crew in the entire family. Multi-million sports betting operation, they moved a ton of drugs into NY over the years, worked with the Russians in the strip clubs, active in Florida, etc. However, the Trucchio crew seems to be mainly blue collar. So, I don't know if it would rival any Genovese crew, several of whom still have major weight in those rackets but also in labor racketeering and legit businesses.
