the fighter was a pretty good movie, but the guy who played micky ward was mark whalbarg, Bale played the part of the washed up brother, bale was a pretty convincing crack addict.

Thanks for clearing that up i knew Bale got alot of praise for that role and i honestly thought he played Ward. I heard they're going to make more focusing on the Ward-Gatti trilogy which would be amazing imo.

LOL at Brad Pitt trying to emote.

In what movie has Harvey Kietel been that special? The only movie i liked him in was Mean Streets, he really annoyed me in Reservoir Dogs and The Last Temptation of Christ.

Same goes for Bale. I loved him in American Psycho, but imo he was an average Bruce Wayne the trilogies success had little to do with Bale imo. I haven't seen The Fighter though so maybe he was great as Micky Ward?

Harvey Keitel's character annoyed me in Reservoir Dogs because he couldn't see that Mr. Orange was undercover; but his acting was great.

Bad Lieutenant is an acting masterclass and he was very good in Cop Land and From Dusk Till Dawn.

His scenes with De Niro in Cop Land always crack me up. Two legends of the game!

It's just opposing opinions then smile . In Reservoir Dogs, he annoyed me because he didn't fit in with the cast at all imo and i'm one of the few that thinks RD is QT best movie. I thought Cop Land was a really bad film, i'd say it was the Expendables of actors i like and it didn't work imo. I agree that Kietel and Deniro were the only decent things about that film though.

I've seen "Cape Fear" last night, and I need to admit that it's an excellent movie. De Niro had given amazing performance as usual, but this is how any (criminal) movie should be kept. Scorsese? I don't have to talk much about him - top notch director.

Few scenes are obviously from "typical Hollywood," but overall it's I'd give it 8.5/10. If you like "heavy-topic" movies, this is definitely for you.

Merry Christmas!

The thing i love about Scorecese is that along with his well known movies like Goodfellas,Casino and Taxi Driver he's made amazing movies like The King of Comedy and After Hours that you barely hear about.

That's right. Scorsese is by far the best director in Hollywood, right now. Not reducing the skill of directing craft of other famous directors, but I think Scorsese's movies have the in-depth meaning. I can even compare him to Da Vinci of cinematography smile

On a side-note, I'm waiting patiently for his upcoming movie with Di Caprio -- Wolf of the Wall Street. Trailer of this film, is one of the best I've seen. Definitely a must-watch film.

just saw The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, for some reason the girlfriend wanted to go see it, other wise i probably wouldnt have bothered to watch it. But surprisingly enough it turned out to be a pretty good movie.

"American Hustle" was a pretty good movie and not just because as the joke goes, Amy Adams, was in the running for "least supported actress" because of her character's usually braless attire. rolleyes lol It's a fictionalized retelling of the ABSCAM scandal. It's an ensemble film where everyone gets a chance to shine. In tone and style it was kinda reminiscent of Goodfellas. Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, and Bradley Cooper also star. Jeremy Renner has a very strong supporting role.

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."
Winter is Coming

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

American Hustle is the movie that I want to go see. Good male leads, and foxy female ones blush

I saw American Hustle...i liked it. Was surprised to see DeNiro ...i had no idea he was going to be in it. Small part...he played a guy connected to Lansky in the movie.

I felt bad for Carmine who was based on former Camden Mayor Angelo Errichetti.

Have any of you seen Oblivion with Tom Cruise? I watched most of it, but how was he able to come back from the dead at the end of the movie?

A couple months ago Bill Maher slipped up giving what I perceive to be the ending (or a surprise within the movie) of the movie "Gravity". He put his hand to his mouth as though to say "oops." rolleyes I haven't seen the movie and now not sure if I want to.

Olivant didnt really give anything away at all, what he said certainly isnt a reason to not see the film. and it was a pretty good movie, i would highly recommend it(even if you dislike tom cruise).

And for those who plan to watch it DO NOT READ THE REST OF THIS POST. SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!

Olivant- He blew up and did not come back from the dead, it was one of his clones that comes up to his camp at the end of the film.

Full of eager anticipation I went to the cinema this week to watch American Hustle. Came away very disappointed. I was not impressed one bit. Full of over indulgent acting and mind numbing character interplay.

Amy Adams nearly saved the day just by being in it, but even she could not do it.

You know that was one I was thinking about seeing. I don't know much as to what it's about but I get a kick out of (and can relate to) some of the hair/clothes styles. lol

I do find tho, most of the time, IF a movie wins many awards, there's a good chance I won't like it. Many times IMHO, critics love it and I don't. confused Wolf Of Wall Street kind of appeals to me but I am wondering if I'll like it.

May the force be with him.

I saw the Star Wars movies when I was a young teen, and never cared for them. In 1997 I took my son, who was 3, and his buddy to Star Wars when it was released for its 20 year anniversary. The most interesting part was watching the people in the theatre, many of them alone.

I really enjoyed Christian Bales performance in The Fighter, he played the part well.

Watched "American Hustle." Good thing Capo rated it 5/10, or I would've thought that I've missed something. How this was nominated for an Oscar, I know not. Pretty much agree with Capo's rating on "Dallas Buyers Club" and "Gravity" as well. I suppose I should not even attempt to watch "12 Years a Slave" and "Captain Phillips." grin
