Today my baby girl turns 16. I'm leaving work early and my wife and I are taking her to the Penn DOT office so she can get her driver's permit. She will be eligible to take her test in 6 months.
We are then going to take her driving before going to a favorite restaurant of hers where a dozen of her best friends will be waiting to surprise her. How nice Kly. I remember when my girls got their license. A whole new "independence" for her. But man, a whole new set of worries that go with it, every time you know they're on the road.  I guess, we, as parents manage to live thru it. LOL Happy 16th to your baby girl!!!!  TIS

The surprise party was a raucous success. Ten girls and a boy, Joey, a little guy with Down syndrome, who's been her buddy since they were babies. His parents are close friends of ours and his mom sat at a table with my wife and me, my mother-in-law, brother-in-law and my wife's aunt.
There is nothing more enriching than youth. Too bad I didn't understand this when I was a youth. Who was it that said "Youth is wasted on the young?" Sounds like a lot of fun. Memories to cherish that's for sure. I remember when my girls had slumber parties; were up all night giggling, doing each other's hair, talking about boys, and of course listening to music. Looking back always reminds us of the "Good old days." TIS

Tell me about it. It can slow down now anytime. Geez. Seems like my oldest grandchild was just born and she turned 11 in July.  Is there a way where everyone else but me can get old?  Keep me posted. LOL Btw, very cute grandson Mig. TIS

It's a Ghost Town here today. BOO! Since it's Halloween it's probably pretty appropriate no? Everyone's trick or treating? I remember when I was a kid a couple neighbors who were gone for the evening would leave a big dish of candy on the porch with a note to take one. I can't imagine they do that now.  I did tell the grandkids to save me a couple chocolate candies.  TIS

We had a nice turnout for Halloween. The best costume was a boy, who was dressed as Michael Jackson. He put together his outfit, complete with red blazer with brass buttons and gold fringe. He bore a resemblance to him (pre-cosmetic alterations) with jerry curls flowing beneath his hat. He got an extra for the costume. Did he moonwalk upto the door? He didn't. But I asked him if he had been getting requests to dance, and he said everyone was asking him. He did a spin after I dropped the bags of candy into his bag, and then I tried to do a few moves on the front porch. I like to think the kids were laughing WITH me, but my wife is convinced they were laughing AT me.
