I think he was more of a union guy than a street gu, kind of like Frank Gerace, they were both capable of murder but were strictly unions and not really LCN, and than Natale went away in the 80's, he probably had a chance of being made under Scarfo if he didn't go in, Scarfo was making everyone, the testimony talks about how they were planning on making more guys in 87 if they didn't go away such as the third Pungitore brother Ralph.

Yeah when Natale got out in october of 1994 Merlino was still inside on supervised release violations. When Merlino got out he "made" Natale. AT that time Merlino was merely a soldier. The authority of a soldier to make a guy is in and of itself questionable, and calls into question Natales button. I am sure that had an effect on Natales recognition as not only boss, but as merely a made guy.

Natale went away for burning down Mr Living Room and for drugs in the late 70's. He was Bruno's guy at the union. Scarfo and Testa backed Gerace. There was serious problem when Bruno told Testa and Scarfo to fall in line but they refused. Then Natale got sent away so the problem went away with him.

Believe it or not Ralph was a respected guy back then, he didn't become a joke until he took over after his release from prison. Union Enforcer Charlie Allen testified he was asked by Ralph to get a bunch of guns because they thought 2 factions were going to start shooting. That was Bruno against Testa and Scarfo.

Bruno was losing control of that family long before Caponigro killed him.

Merlino had a loyal following, but he was well known for being a very selfish guy who never did the right thing with respect to the family. Bet in to most of his guys books under different names and never paid. Didnt take care of any of his guys when they were away. Joey is about Joey.

If Nicky jr. would have spent more time thru the years in south Philly and he was a little aggresive things would of been diff .The young philly guys really did not know him that well..They thought the silver spoon thing .But anyway it could have stayed in the Scarfo fam Nick jr just did not have the {young turk } with him, or he may not of been boss but it could have stayed in the fam..Joey and nick jr were good friends back then ,guess Joey was bullshiting..And very jealous or they could have worked together..but Joey was a HOG just like u said...

Ive never heard of that, I suppose its possible but it may have been raised through a party he threw where he asked for donations to pay for legal fees.

The main problem with him is that he was such a huge degenerate gambler that he was willing to rip his own guys off by betting into their books.
A big reason scafidi and Natale flipped is that Joey stopped sending them any money when they went away and didnt help their families. When Borgese got word that scafidi was considering flipping he wrote scafidi a letter offering to give him money and take care of his wife when they hadn't done so throughout his whole bid.

Louie that was Joey McGreal that Ralph killed for Bruno. There was another guy that Ralph is said to have hit back then but i can't remember the name. This was back in the 70's before he got put away on the arson and drug charges in 79 or 80.

I'm still curious if the story is true that Leonetti had his mother take a million of Scarfo's money right before she left town to go into the WPP with Phil. The story is Phil had her take a mil or more on her way out the door. True? Or not true? Anybody?

Thanks Serpiente. I was hoping Phil would of said something about it in his book. I know he must hear the rumors about it. But unfortunately he didn't mention anything about it.

I wouldn't blame them if it was true. I probably would of taken everything i could of.

I forgot about Mimi. Last i heard she had a place near Nicky jr's house (before it was seized) and Mark was there with her. They have nurses taking care of Mark and that must get pretty expensive. Wonder if Nicky arranged for her to get some money after he got locked up?

Leonetti did mention in the book about Scarfo wanting Phil to do something to his wife I dont feel like repeating, and IIRC her gambling was the reason he gave, so maybe she took the money Scarfo got mad and than blamed it on Leonetti?

Half the guys i know want to kill there wives. But so far they're all still alive. lol

Was Mimi a looker in her younger days? I don't think i've ever seen her. Anyone that would marry that maniac must of been a little off her rocker too.

I'd imagine Scarfo wouldn't go for the hamburger, he seems more like a steak kind of guy. (please someone get that referance)

I know Scarfo's oldest son Chris had a different mother, Nicky's first wife. Any info on her? Was she a local woman? Someone once said she was from NY but i really don't know.

Serpiente-appreciate the info. Whats the status on Nicky Jr's case? Seems like he was indicted a couple years ago, but havent heard much? Is he still downtown at 7th and Arch? I guess he didnt have any problems being mixed in with the Merlino/Ligambi crew?

I dont know whats up with the case ,and he dont have a problem with most those guys....he is made cant touch him ,It would of been differnt for Nicky jr.and Joey M. If Nick SR. did not do to his father and uncle the things he did ,Joey has never been liked by anyone but little nick down here. Up there the bums that Joey grew up with yea they backed him bc his dad and uncles{u know your a teen and your boy has mob fam and he is saying lets go ,and u dont have a mind so u go} ,so they figure we can get this shitthat nicky sr had set up.Anyone that would fight they were allmost all were dead or in jail. But if joey was not so jeloius and greedy him and his so called best friend could have put together a good little unit back then nickjr has some brains.and joey could have handled the street stuff. Jr was just doing stuff for his dad {doing what he was told} If Joey would have said nick do u think we can get together on this bc i have so people that dont like the way it is going down wit your dad in jail .He just started shooting and look at that fam they cant get anything together.Dont get me wrong stuff is being done but is not OC it is not LCN it is shit..that is what Joey is and was...
