Was in Atlantic City this weekend and stopped by Georgia ave again. Was looking for a place to have lunch and figured I would walk past. Took some pics which I can upload later ... I think I mentioned in this thread last year but the place is extremely run down. The church is across the street thru the parking lot..there was a gentlemen outside his house two doors down from Nicky's building. He had lived there through the whole scarfo era. Nice guy so I chatted up with him for a bit. He said he did some renovation on his house in 1981 and there was a news article on it - I guess the it was a real old building - anyway he said the article turned into an article on Nicky. He said he felt bad so he walked over and apologized to Nicky and he said not to worry about it - happened all the time. He also said that Nicky and Phil and the crew were all really nice good people but then he also said "but I didn't do business with them". I was going to have lunch at angelonis but it wasn't open. The whole area is Mexican now - the guy said there was one Italian family all the way down the street but that's it.

Serp- sorry didn't ask his name...older guy probably mid 70s his house was closer to Atlantic than Angelonis so on the other side from scarf inc building...said he vacationed in Orlando ... Would seem that he kept to himself - also said he used to live in Iran of all places before the revolution

Wow that,s not Billy then, I know the building that he must live in cos i knew all the people that lived in the single family houses, there is a Apt. building next to st. Mikes lot.
Hard to believe people must do that often for him to say that .But i cant place him. When you said two houses from, there is only one guy that is left from the day that has a single family house, but that is five apts. now did you go back them allys the one on three sides of the buildings they had there are thirty houses on each side 90 families lived there . The hole ducktown was like, that now the houses i live in the range of 5299 sq. ft I don't know how we did it and my mothers bro. lived with us for a few years. Then he went far five houses up the ally.

So you're saying the house you live in today is in the range of 5299 sq feet?

This guys house was brown with a light color second story .. Brown steps up to the front door .. He said it doesn't happen often actually - 6 months ago he saw someone else do it. I took some pics of the alley between the Nicky's apt building and scarf inc I walked into that alley also and took some more towards the back. There are so many doors and alleys and nooks and all that - I've been around there before but it's pretty amazing how they built those units in there. This guy said he ran some buildings he owned as a job back in the day. I almost popped in duck town tavern but I had my fill the night before

The duckTown is a newer bar couple of firemen opend it,The building was a bar before. But lots of the old crew does go there.I still go to the same places that i went to in the 70s if they are still standing. You can't tell but it was a great place to grow up.Even Angeloni's was the club Madrid in the 70's

Serp - old crew going there meaning who ? No offense to anyone who still lives in that area but I just couldn't imagine hanging around that place, imagine coming out of there with half a load on and you're basically in the slums - i guess there is a market for it and yes there are firehouses with Irishmen everywhere but I wouldn't frequent that area unless I had to. It sucks every time I go to AC it gets worse . On the other hand there was a good amount of activity on the boardwalk yesterday and today - helped by warmer weather but at least the boardwalk and casinos weren't totally depressing. Stayed at the Taj Mahal the newer tower - it was pretty nice actually and the room hallways view were good. Didn't manage to get into scores like I wanted but next time. Hopefully it's better than. Bare Exposure on Atlantic - that place is always pretty sketchy.

The young guys late 20 ,30 s todays firemen and cops that have to live in the city to get a job. Also the familys of these people still live in ventnor margate longport etc. There are very few people left that lived here but once a year they do a old duck town thing and the people come out of the towns and citys around.I was shocked the people that are still around .But they come. And yes it is a shit hole and i hate to say it.In the day it was down rite great.Back in the day we had the young Frank sinatra Dean Martin Jerry Lewis Sammy Davis Joe DiMaggio and lots lots more just walking around .We had same thing little Italy had just real small ,They would do shows on the piers the 500 club was a half a block from the white house and they loved it and all the stars before they were mega stars but people knew who they were just walking around duck town. Telling you it was great as a kid and young adult, not now....

Jose : Did u get a shot of the 25 ft steel roll gate between the two property's it is still there,it leads back to a court yard where a lot of fun things went on ,we put up a 12 ft block wall around the property line back in,god the late 70s early 80s. Nick was getting very weary people could hop over a little wood fence. All that is still there.(gate and all)

Yes I have a couple shots of that steel beam there connecting the two properties .. I went back in the courtyard and had a quick look around. Actually the neighbor also told me that they built some sort of wall in the back - black wall ? He said that it was put up to keep people and others out - that may be what you are taking about .. He said it was put up around the time that they were having trouble in Philly .. I couldn't really understand the gentlemen too well and he was aging a little bit but that might be it Serpiente .. You'll see the pics tomorrow but there are the fire escapes on the upper floors which I think is where Nicky lived

I will tell you what is what and the doors Phil talks about in his book and what rooms are what. Ans yes it is a block wall 12 ft high all the way around on three sides cos the fourth side is the front.I have to know the old guy i was born on that block. The house on right Nick got after he moved here ,The mom and dad had the apt. building on left and they all had fire escapes.Unless someone stole them for scrap after my family moved.

Thanks for posting those Jose. The one pic you got looks just like the one in Phil's book where he is standing outside the apartment in 2011.

Thanks haven't had a chance to comment yet...
Yeah the day I took the pics it was pretty quiet around the street and the alleys - the building through the parking lot is the church .. I probably could have managed a couple more in the back yard but the way that area is now I didn't want to press the issue .. I'm sure Serpiente will have a few comments but a lot if the pics are of the same - I'm wondering if that steel gate connecting the two buildings was used for protection maybe or what..
It's all Mexican now

Jose nice pic: I can give a little info i guess every one knows the three property's from Phil,s book and or there has been a couple video's.Photo # 1#2 is the front door to the grams apt.building, there were some people that were in the book ,that when it said lived in one of Scarfos apts.thats the building.

# 3 is the steel gate that was put up right before ,or just after Salvi if my memory is right, and where grams would come out and yell at people poking around, Feds , news ect.# 4 same and office door ,sorry (Scarf Inc.)door the house on top is where Mimi and the kids lived. They always said dads apt. (so sr always kept one next door.# 5 is the ally where Phil and Sr. could sneek out to Fla.ave. where there would always be someones car. But not the only way to the cars.

# 8 St. Michaels school where we all went ,and married,And father let the Feds stay and take some pictures. Some pictures seam to come from the angle of the convent that not in your shot.
# 9 Scarf Inc. door.
# 12 from court yard looking out, after like 1974 the concrete trucks were parked back there, and others that would come. You know made guys would pull in then gate would drop.
# 13 my favorite Angeloni's side door (not back)
# 14 Scarf Inc. and grans apt. building, but in the ally right before the house (office)would be the ally that in the book i think well if all were would be in kitchen you would go about 10 feet and there was a side door of second floor that was added ,and that door goes down the ally on the other side to the stashed cars.
#17 # 22# 26 is the where Chris Ford brother keep watch from the porch(I would not say that but he said it in a book or a video)he just did not say where but that it.
# 19 # 20 Is the famous angle where the made guys would stand out front one shot had a 17 year old George all the way to Nick sr. and Chuckie.

Thanks Jose ,That was a album

Was just looking at some old philly articles I'm calling super bullshit on crazy phills reason to flip. Never mind all the bullshit be wrote about in his book and how his uncle didn't care about his son suicide attempt. He convincingly left out that fact his mother Nancy was indicted for union no show jobs that got her paid plus stealing pensions. Be forgot to leave that out of every interview.book.talkshow. this guy was a con man a d him and his mom are screwed up. Then to steal money this guys a fraud.

I think I'm all read up and experienced on Phil L and Nicky. .. I'm not sure what to think about Phil but one thing is for sure if Nicky was active Phil would be gone in a heartbeat.
Now that Narducci and the Merlino crew is out , Leonetti is old news - Mazzone, Sonny , Johnny , Georgie , Joey , Phil N , Phil Ligambi , Uncle Joe .. Philly is strong again - just need lucibello , Angelina , and a few others .. Soon
