No he's not. smile

The Flash is one of the biggest DC superheroes, a founding member of the Justice League of America, with the superpower of super speed.

This won't be his first Flash TV series. He actually had a short-lived one back in the early 1990s.

Just watched a rerun of The Big Bang Theory in which they all go to a costume party at the comic book store dressed as Justice League. Sheldon is the Flash, and he was hilarious, pretending to run to the Grand Canyon and come back after a microsecond.

Caught R.I.P.D. and wow, the critics were right. This does suck! This badly wants to be MEN IN BLACK meets GHOSTBUSTERS, but ends up being more MEN IN BLACK 2 meets GHOSTBUSTERS II. It has a fatal flaw that kills any would-be buddy comedy/actioneer: ZERO chemistry between leads Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds. The jokes fall flat, the action setpieces are unexciting and irrelevant, and has a hard time where the reported $130 million budget was spent on.

Wait for rental. Better yet, wait for cable. Better yet, wait for TNT or USA.

It's hard to believe that grown men can be so obsessed with cartoon characters, but I guess they can be. One day they'll end the series; I wonder how they'll do it.

Oli,

AMC has a tv show for just that called "Comic Book Men." lol I don't get it either. The only reason why I know of the show is it's on just before Walking Dead AND I found out Walking Dead was a comic book series because the host of that show was on the Talking Dead show.

The same way grown-ups can hang around a website about the Mafia and mob movies.

Caught 2 GUNS today at the matinee. Meh. Reminds me of RED 2 in that I don't really have much to say about this except that it exists and I saw it. Not a bad film, just not really good either.

I guess if I have to describe it, 2 GUNS badly wanted to be an Elmore Leonard-type story but it lacked his wit, grit, and imagination. Not as funny as it thinks it is, not much energy kicking the narrative in the pants either.

One good thing: If I had kids, I would've been forced by those little shits to go see SMURFS 2. I feel blessed.

Damn, as of a few minutes ago, I no longer get CBS due to stupid dispute between Time Warner and CBS. mad rolleyes Right now with repeats, I believe the only show I watch regularly on CBS is Under The Dome. Damn, I hope they get it straightened out. I hear it affects NY, LA, Boston, Dallas and several other areas.

I am grateful that I have FIOS, and so far they've avoided these disputes. I can't believe that Time Warner didn't cave! WOW! After Cablevision lost a ton of customers to satellite after the YES Network debacle, these companies would have learned. I mean, that was Yankee fans only, this is a major network, and there are a lot more choices than ever now!

So now Time Warner is showing family movies on CBS instead of regular programming. AND, TW sent a letter to CBS saying they'd be willing to offer the customers CBS a la carte. rolleyes Sure, just charge us more.

One (of only a couple) CBS show I've been following is "Under The Dome." I found a link on-line for last night's episode and when I clicked to watch it, I got a messaging saying it's blocked as well for TW customers. mad

Someone, in one of the comments on the CBS/TW sites regarding this situation suggested that TW should have ALL their shows a la carte. Boy, I'd be for that. There are so many bullshit channels I wouldn't need, not to mention I'd boot all the sports channels. I'd save a bundle. smile I know, it's not gonna happen. frown

Someone mentioned the 20th anniversary of The Sandlot, and here's an article about what the actors looked like then and what they look like now. Gina, I hope you're lurking to see this!

Anyone else interested in seeing soon to be released, "The Butler?" Stars Forest Whitaker as a man who became a butler at the White House serving 8 American Presidents over three decades. I "think" based on a true story.

Sounds interesting to me, partly because it covers some of the history of our presidents, all from my time. Also an interesting choice of cast;
James Marsden as JFK; John Cusack as Richard Nixon; Liev Schrieber as Lyndon Johnson and Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower? uhwhat

I am very interested in seeing it. I've seen Oprah on several talk shows promoting it and it looks very interesting, plus I think Forest Whittaker is a great actor.

I heard a couple brief comments from Oprah on the film too. Some are saying "Oscar". It just sounds like a really interesting film to me.

When I heard the short clip of JFK talking to the "Butler", the voice sounded just like him. I never would have thought of James Marsden as JFK. confused Plus, it looks like they cover some significant historical events (in that time span how can it be avoided) that many of us lived thru.

Well with Time Warner & CBS at war I haven't been able to watch the last couple episodes of Under The Dome. I finally got to catch up today at my daughter's house. I am really enjoying it. The last two episodes were both very good.

And SB, you read the book. That "Junior" is really psycho isn't he? lol

Has anyone seen the latest Target back to school ads? They are really cute.

By the way TIS, how did the dome get where the dome is?

Oli,

That's the mystery. Nobody knows how or why they are all stuck within the dome. confused

Btw, I keep waiting to see if Stephen King makes a cameo. So far haven't seen him.

They are using food/water (and in some cases medications) that they've had in supply "under the dome" BUT they are running out of both food/water (as shown in last episode). Not sure at this point how they'll crack the dome or if they do. confused

I've been recording all the episodes, but haven't watched them yet. I was saving them to sort of watch at least a few together at one time.

Oli,
Click to reveal..
the dome was from aliens, and it's only when things get really ugly that one of the folks figures out how to lift it.
Actually, I was sort of disappointed in the ending, but the book itself is quite a study in sociology. It shows how quickly we all can become uncivilized.

I was under the impression it was a mini-series based on the book. At first, I thought it would be only 4/5 episodes but it goes into the beginning of September if I'm not mistaken. Also however, I heard a rumor it was to be a series but I can't confirm that. confused

We have recently watched the first series of BANSHEE, done by the same folks behind TRUE BLOOD. Wow, gritty, violent stuff, full of fighting, sex and swearing. I loved it cool

The TV adaption of UNDER THE DOME hits our screens tonight, but will be getting taped cos I am watching football smile

I was looking at the TVLand schedule and I can't believe the odd times at which programming starts. Most were bewteen 6 and 12. Remember when shows started exactly on 12 or 6? Of course, remember when the summer was exclusively for reruns and a new series started in September? Well, now they start and stop all over the place. How times have change. It's more like economics.

If you remember, Oli, the Turner channels used to begin their shows a few minutes after the hour. The theory behind it was that those were the moments when other shows were airing credits and commercials and people would flip the channel. Therefore, because the shows on Turner's networks were just starting, they would capture your attention. I'm going to guess that since they don't do that any longer, it was not successful.

Honestly, it doesn't even matter when shows begin any longer. I'm so used to watching on the DVR now that I just record them, watch and FF through commercials and can see an hour long show in about 40 or so minutes.

I just started watching reruns of Southland. What a great show. I only watched the last two seasons when they were new, so it's great to catch up on why the characters were they way they were.
