I started watching "Rectify." I've watched 2 episodes and it's quite good. It's about an inmate who had been on death row for about 20? years or so, convicted of rape and murder of his girlfriend. He has been released due to testing of DNA evidence of the rape kit, since the semen did not match his. It's a small town, so you could imagine the reactions.

I also started watching "The Following," But I really can't care about any of the characters. It's like a bad slasher movie.

The "Revolution" will continue. NBC announced it had renewed the sci-fi drama from Eric Kripke and J.J. Abrams for the 2013-2014 season.

Also picked up are shows "Chicago Fire," "Parenthood," "Grimm" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." NBC has ordered 22 episodes of all five shows.

We have a new show starting next week that has caught my eye. BANSHEE it is called, by the makers of True Blood.

Apparently it is about an escaped prisoner who gets a job as a small town sheriff and then proceeds to clear out all the bad guys, being a useful tough guy himself, so not a horror or supernatural!!

And yes still watch True Blood. Silly and daft but i like it, it makes me laugh smile

Afs, West Wing is undoubtedly my favorite TV show ever. The cast, the writing, all just brilliant. However, you've seen the best part of that show. Seasons 5 and 6 are almost unwatchable, especially in comparison with the first three. Season 7 was interesting in that all the loose ends were tied up.

While I had a serious crush on Josh, Toby was my favorite character. He was just so righteous, so eager to be heard. I loved the look on his face when the President reprimanded him for arranging for the honor guard funeral for the homeless vet. He knows he was wrong for using the office of the President to arrange for the funeral, but he knows he was right to arrange for such a send-off.

Sam's leaving was so sad, but I did learn to like Will, especially in Inauguration I and II.

There was a West Wing thread at one point, I'm pretty sure. Goombah was a huge fan! SC liked it, too.

I apologize if I have rambled too much. As POTUS would say, "What's next?" wink

BTW, are you able to see "Newsroom", Sorkin's new HBO show? While it's inferior to West Wing, it has some good moments, and who is a better writer than Sorkin?

I'm really glad I finally got to watch this show, it has been really great up to this point. I can't really pick a favorite, but I find parts about Donna and CJ especially endearing. wink Also I've a huge crush on Sam. I loved his back and forth with Hayes. That episode with CJ's bodyguard was great too, but why did it have to end that way? frown I liked how he almost burned himself trying to put his gun down his pants. grin

And I too have watched the first season of the Newsroom, I love that show. Sorkin came on Colbert and that made me check it out, that show is the reason I went back to watch The West Wing. smile He is definitely a great writer.

I was so sorry that the actress who played Ainsley left to go to CSI Miami. Her character was one of my favorites. The 3rd State of the Union speech (when Ainsley and CJ all get paint on their clothes in the sculpture garden) is one of my favorite episodes.

And there was a WW thread! Here you go!

I read that the stars of the Big Bang Theory make about $350k per episode and are annually given an advance of as much as $1 million on residuals and other money-making effects of the series. That per episode salary though is much less than the cast of Friends made, but I guess the economics of TV series have changed in that regard.

I watched an episode. It's certainly better than the first episode of Vikings. What they have to do with each other? Absolutely nothing. lol

Jim Parsons should and probably does get payed the most because he clearly makes the show.

Anyone watch the season finale of "Southland"? We were away and had it in the DVR. Just got a chance to see it, and I'm still reeling from the ending. I've also heard this may be the last season, which I'm not happy about. It's a great show.

Watched a show last night about Hugh Laurie(obviously of HOUSE fame, but famous for much else here) travelling across the US investigating the love of his life, blues music.

What a tremendous show. Not only is Mr Laurie a superb raconteur, but he can actually sing, and some of those old blues characters he met were great!!

Latest period drama from the BBC, THE VILLAGE is well worth a watch if you can catch it in the US. Set (not surprisingly) in a village during WWI it is grim but fascinating viewing. Apparently it is down to run for several series, all the way through to present day.

So sorry to hear about Go On and The New Normal (although I wasn't sure how they were going to sustain it once the surrogate gave birth). I thought they were both very funny.

As for Southland, I will miss John Cooper very much. I thought he emerged as a true hero on that show, and I just loved his character, as well as the actor who played him. The show may have been one of the best written cop dramas since Hill Street Blues.

As an action fan, I'll admit that I don't think that highly of the film works of Chuck Norris. Most of his films suffer from being cheap, cheesy, and just really unremarkable to be honest. (I try to seperate my opinion of the art from that of what I might think of said person, but Norris' known homophobia doesn't help his cause.)

But he did 2 movies I did enjoy, one of them was CODE OF SILENCE which was on cable the other day. From Chicago-native Andrew Davis (THE FUGITIVE, UNDER SIEGE), basically a Norris actioneer mixed with SERPICO morality drama. Engaging, exciting, very solid entertainment, especially in the climax like in the best westerns, our hero is forced to go alone to beat the bad guys as his fellow cops refuse to help him after he squealed on a corrupt cop.

Also he has a tank blowing stuff up, so that's a plus.

Yahoo has an article on Cable tv shows winners/losers. I don't watch most BUT two was glad to see Walking Dead & Bates Motel as winners. However, per the article, Mad Men, not so much.

Teaser for AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. (Set within the Marvel movie universe of Iron Man and The Avengers) out this fall on ABC.

Fanboys are already speculating who that black guy in the cloak is, but if they're right...OH. HELL. YES.

Click to reveal..
about time Luke Cage appeared in the flesh. If that's him, of course.

Anybody watches DOCTOR WHO? So this week's episode is this season's finale and they've been building up for months about how The Doctor's "real" name will finally be revealed in this year, the 50th anniversary of the show.

Anyway the DVD set for this season was supposed to be released a week or two later, but BBC accidentally shipped some copies out before the season finale aired. Opps! So now BBC is depserately pleading the Internet to not spoil that episode. Yeah good luck with that.

Currently we are getting a show by movie man Oliver Stone, called OLIVER STONES UNTOLD HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES. Starting from WWII and going through to the present day, it is a ten parter but we have had only had 3 episodes so far, basically the end of the war and the dropping off the 2 bombs on Japan. Stone narrates it himself and it would appear that he has no time at all for Harry Truman, he pulls him apart at every level. Mind you, Truman is not alone in this. Mr Stone does not seem to have much time for anybody to be honest, even Winston Churchill????? uhwhat panic smile

I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees!

(CNN) -- Actress Angelina Jolie announced in a New York Times op-ed article on Tuesday that she underwent a preventive double mastectomy after learning she carries a mutation of the BRCA1 gene, which sharply increases her risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
