He impregnated her 5 times but each time he would deliberately beat the baby out of her or starve it out! Remember she was there two years before the other girls ever got there, she is still in the hospital really going through mental stuff more so then the other girls she is the most frail cause he tortured her and starved her more so then the other two. Her face is badly disfigured the bones they say from the beatings and no health attendance to her wounds and that her hearing is practically gone from all the beatings. She doesn't have a home to go to and does not have the family support like the other two so a special prayer to Michelle Knight the forgotten victim.

been a few of these cases recently.It seems more common for people like this to do it to their own kids or step kids , than actually going out to kidnap others.

There was another case where the parents had put their 6 year old autistic son in a cage too.

34 girls were reported missing in this same general area over the last few years. Some within a few weeks or months of each other.

What does that say to the police who watch out for people in that area. That can't be the norm can it?

Wow. Something that started out as a news story about the miracle of ending the torture these girls have endured has degenerated into a left v. right argument over what punishment the kidnappers should get. Color me surprised.

I can't imagine what these three girls have suffered and I hope and pray that they somehow find some peace.

If deciding the punishment for this guy was be up to me, I would tie him up in the middle of the town where these atrocities occurred and let the local populace (and others who would undoubtedly come from far away) do whatever they wanted to this guy.

I actually agree with Ivy here. The death penalty should only be applied as a matter of justice. It will never work as a deterrent anyway. You can't deter people like this with the threat of death because they just don't care.

Anyway there are millions of people who describe themselves as Hispanic or Latino. I even know a few in relatively monochrome Michigan. "Hispanic" is a linguistic/cultural/ethnic term that can include anyone from Ted Cruz to Natalie Martinez to George Lopez to Louis CK. It obviously has meaning to those who self-identify as Hispanic.

And while I am not at all a fan of illegal immigration, illegal immigrants do not disproportionately commit crime.

But again the illegal immigrant crime rate, good or bad, is completely and thoroughly irrelevant to this case as Ariel Castro was born a US citizen.

I read a report that one of the victims wants no contact with most of her family. I'm not sure why, but I hope her privacy on this is respected.

I saw that too Kly. They speculated that it was because parents were told by police that since she was of age (21 I think) that she could have just ran away. Maybe she feels they didn't look for her? Then again, that's only speculation. It very well could be she had a rotten relationship with her family. But I agree, she needs privacy. It sounds like she may need extra help recovering if she can't count on her family. Pretty sad.

Michelle Knight refuses to meet with her family because she feels they gave up on her. The kidnapper used to torture the girls by showing them televised stories about candlelight vigils held by the families. It was only the two other girls who had families that kept looking for them this way. Also, Ms. Knight was very abused - she was starved and/or beaten so that she miscarried five separate times. She was also made to deliver Ms. Berry's daughter and was told that if this baby died, she would be killed.

Everybody despised him and his family has disowned him. He was facing regular beatings if he was ever in general population and isolation if he wasn't. He wasn't sorry for what he did, so what reason did he have for sticking around? Most people think he did the taxpayers a favor.

While I agree he's a coward, at least it may give those poor young women a modicum of peace.
