The gays have actually been priced out of those neighborhoods lately, and that's really telling because historically they've been good money managers and good spenders. But between the Hollyweird types flocking here and Der Fuhrer Bloomberg's branding of the city, you can't rent a one bedroom in the Village today for less than $2500 a month (and that's honestly on the low side).

I hear ya...Chicago is the same way. The Northside neighborhoods are already jacked through the roof and now its the near west side neighborhoods like Wicker Park that are next. That neighborhood used to be filled with hookers and junkies 10 years ago now its yoga and flavor of the week restaurant.

But getting public contracts certainly isn't unique to the Chicago family. There's been several news articles in recent years reporting how the NY families have continued to receive hundreds of millions in contracts.
Scams? Things like stock fraud, telecommunications fraud, health care fraud, etc. have been almost solely the done by the NY families in recent years.

Alot of people in Ill don't want anything to do with Chicago or it's culture, just as we view them as dumb hillbilles they look at us as "City-boys" and what not. I personally love getting out of the city ever once an a while but can never get comfy out in the boonies. I remember when the state wanted to annex the City.
