Anybody remember VERONICA MARS? Well the creator and star of that cancelled cult TV show set-up a Kickstarter account today for a hypothetical movie. They wanted to raise $2 million in 30 days from the Internet. According to them, Warner Bros. (who owns that show's rights) said that they would make the movie if there was enough "fan support."

Well they reached the $2 million in less than 11 hours, and still the money is coming in.

Hey Oli,

I just happened to turn into TNT's, Dallas, where they are showing the episode when JR Ewing dies. Geez, Bobby sure got old, as did everyone else. uhwhat I remember many of the characters.
I was more into Knot's Landing than Dallas, and was happy to see Ted Shackleford return as his Gary Ewing character. smile Didn't see Charlene Tilton, unless I didn't recognize her.

A programme which was much hyped here and stars one of my favourite actors, Kevin Bacon, is THE FOLLOWING. However i think it is a pile of old rubbish. The FBI being infiltrated and given the the run around by one clever serial killer and his cult. Utter shite!!!!

I caught the last 15 minutes of Modern Family last night, and Godfather fans might want to take a look as there was a clever homage to the film. Then the final scene was another tip of the cap.

Ok, eat your hearts out guys. It seems John Hamm of Mad Men fame has...let's see how should I put this??? confused Oh heck, I'll just say it. His "package" is so large that they asked him to wear underwear (why wouldn't you where underwear?) during certain scenes.

They say clothes were so tight during that time. I can't say I remember them being that tight. Then again, compared to today, where pants are hanging off your ass, I guess it would be considered tight. lol

I DO watch the show but must admit I never noticed. Tho I can't say my eyes wander in that direction normally. However, might be worth a look. lol

Btw, I debated if this was "big enough" lol for it's own thread but decided I'd put it in this random section.

There's a film the title of which I can't remember. Maybe one of you can. It was about (I think) a national guard unit in Louisiana (maybe) in the bayou that had a run in with some of the locals. Does that description ring a bell?

Cool. Now, do you remember the last scene? I remember it as the military unit in convoy. What was that about? Were they leaving? What happened before?

Can Movies Be Solved?

Quote:
Rodney Ascher's terrific documentary Room 237 is, among other things, an ode to that "eureka moment." It is a feature-length video essay that looks at five rather outlandish theories of what Stanley Kubrick was really creating with his 1980 film The Shining—since, obviously, he couldn't have just been making a genre movie or a pop-lit adaptation. No, according to his five experts, Kubrick's film is either:
a) an apology for the government's "genocide of the Native Americans"
b) a "deeply laid subtext that takes on the Holocaust"
c) a dizzying ode to displacement
d) a film meant to be seen both forwards and backwards
e) Kubrick's personal dramatization of how he helped fake the Apollo moon landings.

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."
Winter is Coming

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

I prefer the interpretation I've always had for THE SHINING. Its actually about an alcoholic dad who snaps and tries to murder his family.

Found this on the web. It illustrates the % of a show's broadcast time that is devoted to commercials. These were all for main line shows aired during prime time hours:

1952 - 13 percent of the time was spent watching commercials (only 4 minutes out of every half hour!)

1958 - 13 percent
1964 - 18 percent
1977 - 18 percent
1994 - 24 percent
2004 - 30 percent
2006 - 30 percent
2007 - 30 percent
2008 - 32 percent
2009 - 30 percent
2010 - 32 percent
2011 - 31 percent
