I've been following the trial in Philly for the last couple of months and I've reaserched about the Philly family but I can't really find much on Georgie Borgesi's past, anyone have any info on this guy, What was his role in the Merlino-Stanfa war, who made him, Was he a capo, he's apparently a high profile guy and was consigliere at one point but I can't find any info on him or his brother before he wen tothe can in 01,his brpther who's I've heard is also made and perhaps in his crew? I know one of you Philly guys probably know your an knowledgable bunch of guy,

I know both of them, Anthony is no punk as you claim. As for being made or connected in anyway aside from the relation to Joe and George I have no clue but my guess would be yes and he must be pretty smart to escape any kind of heat all these years considering he was dubbed a mob assoicate some 20 years ago in the paper during an arrest.

People on other forums have said George is a real nut. Very angry. Very mean. If you look at pictures of him, he looks like a half down syndrome/half lunatic. People have also said that, despite his relatively small size, he can throw a very mean punch. He's also a stone killer. If I remember right, he was involved in the Joseph Ciancaglini, Ralph Mazzuca, and Billy Veasey hits, among others. He was always close to Merlino, obviously, and is related to Ligambi. His nephew, if I remember right. He was indicted as the consigliere back in the 2000 case but more recently has simply been identified as a "high ranking member."

One of those guys you don't want at the top echelon of a mob family. People say he won't flip but guys just as nutty has George Borgesi and far more powerful have turned. As far as I'm concerned, even though I think this case is a waste of time, Borgesi is one person that should stay in prison.

Dont know if thier related but Vinnie Burgese was 22-5-1/12kos as a Pro fighter..And fought Micheal Moorer in an olympic bout n think beat..And shared a cab ride with a guy named Mike Tyson to that same event..I agree about george.. but his one brother {if related} is one bad sone of a gun ..And think he still trains fighters today..

If I remember correctly, Borgesi was the guy who spit in the face of an FBI agent when he was arrested with Merlino when the agent suggested he consider cooperating.

Georgie is a nut from what I hear. I think its like little man syndrome. Hes short, freckles, doesn't look italian but lives in south philly so he has to make up for it. But I hear it was actually a pretty good book maker. I guess he learned from his uncle. He was the first to get pinched for mob related activity out of the whole merlino crew. If my memory serves me correctly, he was arrested on a gambling charge with Phillip Ligabmi and Uncle Joe in the late 80s. I will have to find the article. Remember Joe only did those 10 years cause of the flowers murder before it was overturned. he only had a gambling pinch when they all went away.

But George is older then both of those guys by close to 10 years and had/has a close relationship with skinny joey. I'm sure he's bitter seeing the way that joey is living the high life and he might be looking at another 10 years...

what I was always curious about was during that first trial back in 01 his wife at the time was named Dina,she seemed pretty loyal and said that Georgie was her first and only boyfriend.Apparantley Natale didn't like him either because while testifying he claimed that Georgie gave her 2 black eyes once.she said she felt very embarrassed and claimed it wasn't true.She also made some statements about a large sum of money and claimed georgie must have got a settlement from a car accident or he won it gambling.Later on the jury said they did not believe her.They lived off Kings Hwy. in Cherry Hill by the Ellisburg circle.He supposetley got divorced and re-married while in prison to this girl named Angela[something like that].The Feds can't stand him.

Yes, they can because a verdict was never reached. So no double jeopardy. The defense may have to agree to the mistrial, if I remember right. Which I have no doubt they would.

Jesus that would suck. I think if it was a mistrial i would rather just see if i can get a good plea deal. Especially if i didnt make bail. How long would it take to start another trial?

I guess it depends on how quickly the prosecution wanted to do it. They could probably bring the charges again almost immediately. But I wouldn't be surprised if they waited to see if they could get Nicodemo to flip. With him, they could include murder charges against several of the defendants and then the stakes go up considerably.

I think Nicodemo will stand up enough to go to a trial. But once hes found guilty he'll flip.
