I don't think it's too bad. I much prefer compact cars to any of the larger cars. Plus, I like red. smile 3 cylinder though? Are there any other cars with 3 cylinders? confused

The Geo Metro had 3 cylinders but this is Ford's first stab at it.

I drive 60-80 miles/day on commute so I want something large and comfortable. I intend to buy something new in the next 3-4 months and am leaning towards SUV or pickup. But these smaller cars will be important for the CAFE standards.

I recently purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT; traded in my 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The sticker advertises 39 mpg hwy, the 2010 was 32 mpg hwy. Two days after I bought it, I read that the EPA is investigating Hyundai/Kia for falsely stating mpg. Criminal charges are possible and even rebates to consumers. When I bought the 2010 (new), I tracked the mpg for a year and averages 31 mpg. After four tankfuls the 2013 is doing the same. I'm building my case.

I don't get it. If it advertises 39, and yours is now 31 how could this be bad?

For a moment I thought the same, because here in Germany we count the liters per 100 km - the less the better. But with miles per gallon, it's just the opposite, unless your goal is to consume as much gas per mile as possible.

So Robert Kennedy's son Douglas tried to take his newborn son out of the hospital for some "fresh air". This is strictly forbidden by hospital policy and all newborns have an ankle bracelet which sounds an alarm if someone tries to remove them from the ward.

When Douglas Kennedy's action triggered the alarm, two nurses tried to stop him. He shoved one and kicked another while trying to back out the door, with the baby in his arms, and it was all caught on surveillance tape. The local district attorney pressed criminal charges of endangering the welfare of a child and physical harassment of the nurses.

Not only was he acquitted of all charges, but the district attorney was chastised by the judge! He said that the nurses overreacted and that it was obvious he was just taking the baby out for a stroll and not trying to kidnap him.

This is a disgrace. It was against the rules, but I guess the Kennedy family doesn't have to follow rules! And for the judge to scold the nurses and the DA! I wonder how much he was paid off??

Coming soon to a store near you?:

Store mannequins are meant to catch your eye. Soon, you may catch theirs.

Fashion brands are deploying mannequins equipped with the same technology used to identify airport terrorists to watch over shoppers in their stores. Retailers are introducing the EyeSee, sold by Italian mannequin maker Almax SpA, to glean data on customers much as online merchants are able to do.

The EyeSee looks ordinary enough on the outside, with its slender polystyrene frame, blank face and improbable pose. Inside, it's no dummy. A camera embedded in one eye feeds data into facial-recognition software much like that used by law enforcement authorities. It logs the age, gender and race of passers-by.

Hey everyone, what's up?

I'm ok. Still got a long way to go but I'm slowly getting there.

I actually saw a TLC show about this. It's called the "Tacky Light Tour" in Richmond, VA. The Christmas lights are incredible, in a wonderfully tacky way! Some of these people put 500.000 lights out!

Speaking of tacky. Bazooka Joe Bubblegum is coming to and end. It's being discontinued. How many of you remember it?

That was such a treat as a kid, a must at the candy store, back when there was candy for a penny, and there were candy stores. Soda fountain/candy store, it was the best place in the world for a kid.

BTW, they have a website if you want to check out the lights, here's the link:

Sorry to hear it's ending. It was my all-time favorite bubble gum and had its own personal corny comic strip inside. Double Bubble or Big League Chew is no match.

When I coached t-ball about 13 years ago, I had a player, named Joe, whom I called Bazooka Joe. He's in college now and the nickname stuck.

Pretty cool Mark. I took the GF & GF II quiz and didn't do too badly but got a few wrong. confused Some that I didn't know.
I saved it to my favorites and will play around with it. I like the movie (& classic music) quizzes. smile

Wow, first twinkies now Bazooka. Bazooka has been around forever. Can't say I ate a lot of bubble gum in general but that's a classic. I think it was only a penny when I was a kid (or was it a nickel?) LOL

It's been a while since I was in Drake's as they closed shortly after I graduated from college but Drake's used to have ice cream sodas.

Zingerman's still has soda fountains but I'm not sure they have (real) egg cream. I don't go there a lot because it is always super busy and you could get diabetes just inhaling the smells of all the sweets.

I don't know that I've heard of Drakes but it sure looks like a quaint place of the past. smile I remember most drug stores and Department stores had a soda fountain.

Tho I was too young to remember, when my brother was little my mom was shopping and took him to the soda fountain in the department store. Apparently they had someone fixing the whipped cream machine. They asked my brother a few times if they could test it out by adding more whipped cream to his milk shake. Heck yea!!! lol They story stuck in my family forever for some reason.
