Fun Fact: This is the first movie Clint Eastwood has acted in that he didn't also direct since IN THE LINE OF FIRE from all the way back in 1993.

Watching "The Client" with Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones. So sad to see this and know that the young man who played Mark is dead now. Anthony LaPaglia, one of my favorite actors, is almost unrecognizable in this film. And Tommy Lee either aged tremendously since or they were hiding his bloodhound eyes with more makeup back then. lol

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Have any of you seen the movie Hancock with Will Smith? I never get to watch the ending all the way through. What happens to Hancock that renders him less than superhuman?

If I remember right ( and I don't remember movies I don't care for all that well), he lost his powers in close proximity to Charlize Theron because she's of his kind or whatever nonsense. He had to get away from her to get his powers back and get healthy again.

The first half of that movie is so good. Will Smith is just so funny as the anti-superhero. Then the second half pretty much sucks.

SB,

Did you watch "News Room" yesterday? I am still getting use to the style of the show for some reason. confused Yet, every week they seem to hit on something that that I actually have gripes about and agree with, like last night's theme about the media and the Casey Anthony trial HAVING to be top story.

Anyway, did you hear them say there are only 2 more episodes left of the season? WTF?? mad confused Good God, it just started. I don't think they've had a total of 10 episodes if that. That's one thing I don't like about these cable (HBO) shows. Seasons are way too short and the time between season sis way too long.

I did watch last night's episode, but didn't get to see it until 12:30 or so because we watched the closing ceremony of the Olympics. Therefore, there were certain parts of the episode where I was "resting my eyes" and didn't get to see it all. I'll have to rewatch it.

OMG... as I posted on Facebook:

'Snooki & JWoww' finds a home - in Ocean County
Quote:

MANCHESTER — A very pregnant Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and her friend Jennifer “JWoww” Farley finally have a home — at least for the next few weeks.

The pair are slated to tape their “Jersey Shore” spinoff show “Snooki & JWoww” at a home on Johnson Avenue, Mayor Michael Fressola said. Taping begins in a couple of days.

[More at the link above]

I know where this house is -- it's 3 minutes from my parents' and 15 minutes from me. They're west of me, and Seaside is about the same distance to the east.

Holy crap, we gotta deal with this chit now? Oy.

It literally is in the middle of nothing but Senior Citizen developments on one side, a strip mall, plenty of woods, and rural land with some developments of "McMansions" mixed in.

There is literally no place nearby for them to "party", so I guess they'll be even closer to me. Or they'll have to "commute" to nearby shore towns besides Seaside.

PS - I never saw the first season, but I guess now I'll have to watch to see WTF they're up to in my backyard! lol

Yes.

I think you should bake a peach pie or pick up the obligatory bottle of cheap wine, throw on a sport coat, knock on their door and introduce yourself to them and welcome them to the neighborhood.

Several years ago we had Jon and Kate and 8 in our neck of the woods. They were easy to spot as they dragged a camera crew the size of an army wherever they went.

Best of luck to you.

I didn't see it, TIS. We were recording the Olympics closing ceremonies, and since our DVR only allows you to record two programs at once, I had to decide between The Newsroom or Political Animals, and The Newsroom won. USA plays it several times during the week and probably on demand as well.

I've really gotten into Covert Affairs (major crush on Augie) and Suits lately. They're good escapism.

SB,

Checking "On Demand" I don't think Political Animals was on Sunday. I saw all the episodes listed.

I love "White Collar" (it's on just before Covert Affairs, same channel, USA.) It's fun light entertainment and Matt Bomer is pretty easy on the eyes as well. smile

Here's a random question about Die Hard 2, which I've seen several times.

Why didn't those planes circling the airport for an hour or two just decide to land at another airport? There are many other airports they could have reached even in the blizzard.

And if it was so easy to get them to land just by Bruce Willis lighting a trail of fuel with a cigarette lighter, why wasn't this done earlier on? Or bring in lights with a generator?

(1) If I remember right, it was set in Christmas season right? I think it's said or assumed that the skies were totally crowded with planes from everywhere going everywhere, and they couldn't just park at say Baltimore because planes meant for those runways were backlogging in coming in and departing, and onwards to either.

It's also convenient plotting, like how Bruce Willis just happens to need to catch the villains great escape and he runs into that news team, who also have their own helicopter at the airport. (Why?)

Not criticism, just commentary.

(2) Probably because the terrorists threatened to down more planes if they knew any such antics were happening.

What keeps coming back to mind for me on DH2 (my least favorite entry of that series), is that climax the idea that Willis triumphs by lighting that leaked gas which then (in movie fashion) and somehow spread from the ground to the leaking liquids falling from the departed plane, which then catch the plane and KABLOOEY.

The biggest problem I have with DH2 is the plane that crashes when the bad guys screw with the instrumentation so that they don't realize that the ground is much closer than they think. Why does the plane explode when the pilot has just said that they have no fuel?

Thank you. Those points are interesting, especially the news crew.

Begin your dream fancastings, folks!

Female "Expendables" movie coming

Just as "The Expendables 2" explodes into theaters, Adi Shankar's banner 1984 Private Defense Contractors has tapped Dutch Southern to write an all-female riff on the star-studded action franchise.

Shankar ("The Grey") will produce for 1984 Private Defense Contractors, which plans to fully finance the "Expendables"-inspired project. Company is already in talks with several prominent actresses affiliated with the action genre.

2012 has been a banner year for female-driven actioners like "The Hunger Games," "Snow White and the Huntsman" and the Gina Carano-toplined "Haywire."

Seeing his name mentioned in the "A-List Movie Star" thread sparked the idea for mentioning this.

Anyone see many movies with Shia LaBeouf? A couple years ago I caught the movie "Disturbia" (his first I think?) on tv and really enjoyed it. Later I saw a movie called "Eagle Eye" with him and really liked that. It kind of had a "Bourne" feel to it and I'm a huge Bourne fan so maybe that's why I got into it but it was very good. Of course he also had the role as the young Wall Street Rookie in "Wall Street Money Never Sleeps". I did enjoy that as well.

Don't know anything much about his personal life but of the three movies I have seen with him I do think he's a possible up & coming. Anyone else agree?

Maybe, if he learns to shut his mouth.

Case in point he was at Dreamworks, which of course is co-run by Steven Spielberg. The Beard directed Shia in the last Indiana Jones movie and he was the lead in those TRANSFORMERS movies that Spielberg produced, along with EAGLE EYE. From all accounts, the Beard was planning to ride his coattails long term.

Then Shia said in an interview that said Indiana Jones movie sucked ("It dropped the ball") and well, the Beard was pissed. They're making a fourth TRANSFORMERS picture, but without Shia and even Shia has admitted that maybe he was stupid for saying that.

You think?

RR,

Didn't know any of that. I only saw previews of the Indiana Jones film, not the film itself. Hmmm! Thanks for the info.

We're getting a new MAD MAX movie (FURY ROAD) next year (plus new Max in Tom Hardy) and here's the official synopsis:

Quote:
“Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived.”

Can't wait for Max to be driving cars and eating dog food again.
