A snippet from the most recent GL
Corozzo, the aging wiseguy whose mob star rose after John Gotti shot his way to the top of the crime family in 1985, quietly pleaded guilty last month to racketeering charges of extortion and gambling for which he faces a maximum guidelines sentence of 63 months behind bars.
The 70-year-old mobster, who has been behind bars since February 2008, also agreed to forfeit $30,000 in payoffs he got from the owner of a car service company, and to a maximum fine of $75,000, according to a plea agreement filed with Manhattan Federal Court Judge Richard Berman.
In addition, Corozzo agreed to drop the appeal he filed claiming that one of the racketeering charges against him should be thrown out on double jeopardy grounds.

Mafia? What Mafia? The reputed consigliere of the Gambino family pleaded guilty yesterday to racketeering — but is sticking to the mob playbook of refusing to admit membership in La Cosa Nostra. Joseph “JoJo” Corozzo “absolutely denies” allegations that he’s been a made member of the Gambinos since the 1980s and rose to become part of their three-member “administration,” said his son and lawyer, also named Joseph Corozzo. The younger Corozzo also insisted his dad had nothing to do with narcotics trafficking — traditionally frowned upon by the mob — even though a bunch of co-defendants previously pleaded guilty to drug charges in the case. Under terms of his plea bargain in Manhattan federal court, the elder Corozzo only admitted committing extortion and bookmaking. http://www.fivefamiliesnyc.com/2012/05/gambino-consigliere-refuses-to.html

Yea, I dont ever plan on it and want to save myself the headache. Funny you mention this though. About three weeks ago I had lunch with a friend from elementary/middle school in the Bronx. We used to play on the baseball team and do math homework together. Anyways, I remember one day he didnt show up to school and my mother (who was on the pta) told me his dad was found dead. After that the kid was never the same, started having anger management issues, doing poorly in school, etc.
It wasnt until many years later when I started getting into mob lore, reading articles and books, I found out that his dad was a Lucchese soldier who was killed by Amuso and Casso during their rampage in the family.
We have had friendly lunch/dinners over the years and have never spoken about the reasons for his dad's death, nor have I told him my interest in mob lore. He has hinted various times throughout our conversations that he is "involved" in "numbers" with "certain people", but wished his life would have turned out different and he went the college route like myself. Obviously I never have or will implore the details of his involvement in the life.
Figured I share this story.

Jo Jo walks into the bar. He's wearin a solid gold belt buckle this big, says Jo Jo on it, he's got a braclet on his arm, says Jo Jo on it, he's got a fuckin' necklace, says Jo Jo on it, he's got solid gold cuff links, they all say Jo Jo on em. This little guy walks into the bar and says, "Excuse me mister Jo Jo." He said, "Shut the fuck up, I don't want anyone to know I'm here!!"
LOL, love that line...

So he's your age, Dapper? Like 25 years old? He can still be almost anything he wants to be, if he wants it bad enough.

Yeah he is my age, but i think at this point he's been involved in his business for too long he probably wont turn his back on it despite any efforts I and others have made to change his mind. He seems to be doing well for himself (drives around in a Benz). I feel he carries around a chip on his shoulder cause of his dad's death. His dad was a nice guy, he would make small talk in Spanish with my mom.

Hey Dap, does that mean that jo jo can get out soon because he was in jail from 2008? Thats like 52 months ago and if he got 63 with good time it becomes 54 He was in jail since 08 serving out another sentence. These charges are from the big mob bust of last year. He's already served a chunk of his sentence since he’s been held without bail for a year. If he receives the low end of the guidelines which range from 51 to 63 months, with normal good time off, he could be home for Christmas in 2014.
