Director Christopher Nolan during an interview for Empire promoting his upcoming highly anticipated DARK KNIGHT RISES said that he "would love" to make a James Bond movie. He made similar comments back in '10 during PR for INCEPTION.

He might be the "It" popular filmmaker of today, but that doesn't mean Eon wants him. Steven Spielberg famously in the late 1970s had dreams for his own 007 film and Eon turned him down cold, despite this right after the Beard made JAWS, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, and ridiculous unseen level of money for Hollywood.

That dream died when his buddy George Lucas instead pitched him his own Bond-esque series, about an archaeologist kicking ass.

But I guess if Nolan did make his Bond movie, Michael Caine would play M right? Well of course Harry Palmer would be M. smile

Not surprising, but Jersey Shore Shark Attack had to be the absolute worst movie ever made in the history of cinema! WOW. And except for some B-Roll footage, I don't even think it was filmed in Seaside! ohwell

How the hell they got a few real actors is beyond me, tho I do get the washed-up personality appearances... OMG. Can't get those 2 hrs back (and I almost turned it off after the first 3 minutes!)

Skip it!

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Why didn't you skip the movie atogether? The title gives a huge indication to what its about.

I just had to see it -- I live 5 miles from that nightmare. And had to see Paulie Walnuts, Sorvino, etc, in the worst movie ever.... lol

Geoff,

I was skimming thru the channels yesterday and saw that title AND the cast. I was debating but decided not to see it. Good thing I decided not too. I don't know how/why some of these good actors take these rolls. It's like admitting "I'm washed up." If I'm not mistaken, there was a sequel to it on next no??? panic They have some doozies that you can tell by the title are probably not that good...DinoGator or something stupid like that? lol It looked cheesy.

I wish I could remember the title BUT a while back, while again, going thru the channels AND if I'm not mistaken on the SciFi or maybe Chill channel, there was a movie with Joe Mantegna in which he played some kind of backwoods, mentally challenged person or something. I cringed when I saw it and turned the channel. panic

TIS, as I posted last week in another thread, Armand Assante is in Shark Swarm from 2008. I guess you can make a movie about anything. But, we expect certain actors to eschew taking roles in B- movies. Still, I see that Armand has roles in 12 movies that are either planned, filming, or in post-production. So, he and actors like Mantegna stay busy.

well, once again cancer has struck again. tommy chong revealed that he has prostate cancer (and will try to cure it with some good old fashioned weed).

http://www.tmz.com/2012/06/10/tommy-chong-cancer/

i hope that he pulls through and beats it...but, yea i guess it depends on how early he caught it.

Hey Bam, How are you?

I just read the story on Tommy Chong today. I read he was diagnosed a couple years ago and that it was in the early stages. I wish him well.

Btw, I would have NEVER recognized him by that picture. It's been a very long time since I've seen him.

If smoking weed actually cures cancer Tommy Chong should be immortal, a Highlander even.

Umm, last I checked, smoking weed was supposed to help you to endure the chemo and other therapies -- not cure anything.

But if it WAS an actual cure, I bet our fockin' gov't would still keep it illegal. ohwell

Now this is news appleonya would've loved.

(But disguises are supposed to disguise you, no?)

Prince William and Kate Middleton go in disguise for The Avengers film date

Quote:
Cinema-goers in central London were given a shock this week when Prince William and Kate Middleton joined the queue to watch the new Avengers movie. The royal couple headed to the Odeon in Kensington on Thursday evening to catch the film as part of a romantic date.

But anybody expecting to witness the pair in their royal finery would have been disappointed, as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dressed down for the occasion in a bid to disguise themselves among the crowds.

William wore a baseball cap, a blue jumper and shirt and glasses, while Kate stepped out in a denim jacket and tight jeans.

One person, also at the cinema to watch The Avengers, took to Twitter to reveal the royal presence, writing: 'OMG watching the Avengers with Kate middleton and Prince William sitting right next to me!!!!!'

Yea, I think so Oli.

The good thing (for me anyway)those two shows end but "Walking Dead" (I know DeNiro watches that one) will be returning (July I think?) and I also watch White Collar (on USA)and that returns as well. What I hate about all these shows is the seasons are too short and too much time between.

You know TIS, the TV landscape has changed so much. Remember when sumer was definitely only for reruns - I don't recall that any new shows ever showed up during the summer. Also, you could count on a september thru december season and a january through may season. The irregular start/stop season these days wracks the tv viewer brain. Life used to be simpler.

That's true. Years ago, before cable, we had what? 3 or 4 channels and summer was ALL repeats. Now, there is a large selection of channels (tho a lot are still what I call bullshit channels) I usually find something of interest. smile

Remember the days when you actually had to get up off the couch to turn a channel or turn tv off? How prehistoric now lol

God, how I remember that. Back then it was a legitimate statement that there's nothing on TV. But not only are we enjoying(?) such a wide array of channels, but the population has increased so much that just about any program can attract a sufficient number of viewers. So, advertisers feel they can reach enough peole to justify their support of a program. That's why all these reality shows make it at least for awhile.

Lifetime is showing "Disclosure" with Michael Douglas and Demi Moore. I haven't seen the movie in years, but am enjoying it. Douglas made a number of good movies in the 90's and still is one of my favorite actors. smile

I remember when some stations signed off before midnight.

My mom used to tell this story: It was about 1952 or '53 and my mother was doing her ironing one night. We had a tv for a few years already at that point (which was unusual since most families were first getting tv around then) and she wanted to watch a movie while ironing the clothes. Only problem was there were no movies on then.

My mom, who loved and lived to argue, called up the broadcast channel and complained that her husband bought her a tv and she wanted to watch a movie but there was no movie on. The station actually broadcast a movie!! [TRUE STORY] It was a Charles Boyer movie, and my mom told me the name of it, but I've since forgotten the name.

No. That was the only movie that I had seen with Boyer when my mom told me the story. I asked her many years later but she forgotten the name of the movie but remembered the incident (and laughed about it).

SC,

What a neat story. Charles Boyer's name is sure familiar (and I remember my mom/dad liking Gaslight)but I can't place him nor do I know his movies offhand. confused

My mom was "always" doing housework, but I do remember times she'd set up the Iron (or do mending) as she watched tv. She had to be doing some kind of housework.

I am amazed tho that the tv station put on a movie for her. Ha ha. But things really were different back then.

I'm watching Anaconda (SyFy) with Jennifer Lopez and Jon Voigt who has a really weird accent (it's kind of comical if you ask me) lol

My mistake. You're right. I do remember Boyer though in a couple of movies.
