Well, that was speculations on the street. I think it first was mentioned in the book "Body Mike" by Thomas C. Renner.
Joseph Cantalupo: "He [Franzese] was a man I think Persico feared, and I´ve always womdered if Persico had something to do with setting up the informers who testified that Sonny had directed the operations of some low level bank robbers."

Personally, I don´t think Persico set Franzese up. It´s more likely that the FBI framed him in much same way as Dewey framed Luciano in 1936.

Sounds weird, doesn´t it?
The Gallo issue had been brought to the Commission. I think the Gallos relied on Gambino´s support in their effort to depose of Profaci. But the Commission meeting ended in Profaci´s favor. Perhaps the Gallos were pissed off at Gambino and seized the opportunity to give Dellacroce a beating when they (probably by chance) encountered him?

BTW, The FBI report does not mention by name the other Gambinos who were beaten up. Only Dellacroce´s name is mentioned. I have tried to track down the names of the others, which possibly could shed some light on what actually happened. But sorry to say, I´ve been unsuccessfull.

One more thing. For what it´s worth, Dellacroce was beaten up in The Luna Restaurant on Mulberry Street. This was a known hangout for Joey Gallo and some of his men. If the encounter was not by chance, could it be that Dellacroce was having a pre scheduled meeting with the Gallos for a talk but ended up beaten?

what was the exact list of Orena capos cause i heard he demoted a bunch of guys and replaced them with loyalists i'm just wondering who was used to replace who

(The Underboss and Consigliere were on the list of guys that Orena promoted to his liking)
Boss-Junior Persicio
Acting Boss-Victor Orena
Underboss-Joseph Scopo
Consigliere-Vinny Aloi

(*, means that they were one of the one's replaced)
(^, means that they were promoted)
Capos
- Bill Cutolo
- Patsy Amato (Promoted then demoted)
^- Joseph Scopo (Who took his spot or was he jointed Capo/Underboss?)
*- Teddy Persico Sr (IP)
*- Richie Fusco
- Tony "Black" Induisi
*- "Little Allie Boy" Persico (IP)
*- Anthony "Chuckie" Russo
*- Joseph "JoJo" Russo
*- John Pate

Crew affiliation not necessarily meant anything in regards to who the members were loyal to. What I mean to say is that while some soldires in one crew were loyal to Orena, other soldiers in the same crew stayed loyal to Persico. And most of the guys Orena promoted wasn´t necessarily members of crews that had been led by the captains he demoted.

The administration of the Colombo Family looked like this (1990):

Boss - Carmine Persico (IP)
Acting boss - Vic Orena
Underboss - Benny Aloi (IP)
Consigliere - Carmine Sessa

The captains were (just before the outbreak of the war):

- Bill Cutolo
- Patsy Amato
- Joseph Scopo
- Teddy Persico Sr (IP)
- Richie Fusco
- Tony "Black" Induisi
- "Little Allie Boy" Persico (IP)
- Anthony "Chuckie" Russo
- Joseph "JoJo" Russo
- John Pate

In a bold move (without Persico´s permission), Orena demoted these guys just before the outbreak of the war:

Carmine Sessa, Teddy Persico Sr, Fusco, Chuckie Russo, JoJo Russo and John Pate. He replaced them with Patsy Amato (promoted to UB, but demoted after a few months), Joe Scopo (to UB), Vinny Aloi, John Orena, Sal Miciotta, Jimmy Randazzo and Nicky "Black" Grancio.
