By the way, for the first time last week I watched an episode of Broke Girls. It was about menstrual cycles and tampons. Now, I imagine to giddy 20s something writers and viewers that seems just hilarious. But what about you ladies on the Board? I found the episode cliche-ridden, unfunny, and unpleasant. I probably won't watch the series again.

I ended up falling asleep halfway through. tongue

Oli,

That's the only thing that I don't like about Two Broke Girls. It does get a little, what's the word? Gritty? They can do w/o that kind of humor. BUT, I also find it funny and usually laugh several times during the show. Like the time the dark haired waitress waits on the senior citizen's table. lol

OMG! A remote control toilet. lol Really though, wasn't it just a matter of time?

Geoff if you're good this year, Santa may just bring you a crapper. lol

First Santa would have to install indoor plumbing! Rumor has it that in Geoff's part of New Joisey, they're still using outhouses!

First time we went to Italy (early 1970s), we had never seen a bidet before (they didn't have them in the Bronx). My mom and dad would come home footsore from sightseeing, and guess where my dad would soak his feet! lol

I pulled this off of the ESPN website. It is spooky:

On Jan. 8, 2012, three years to the date that he caused millions of football fans to Google the meaning of John 3:16, Tebow played his first playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. And … Tebow threw for 316 yards. Tebow averaged 31.6 yards per completion, the highest single-game postseason completion average in NFL history. Ben Roethlisberger's second-quarter interception, which led to a Matt Prater field goal and a 17-6 Broncos lead, came on a third-and-16.The Steelers finished the game with a time of possession of 31:06.And at the time Tebow threw the game-winning 80-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas -- the NFL's longest postseason pass in overtime history -- CBS' final quarter-hour overnight ratings were, yes, a 31.6.

When I lived in Sardinia, we used our bidet as a beer cooler. We filled it with ice and put the Splugen's Beer bottles in and it kept them verrry cold!! Hey, we were 4 single guys living in an apartment in Italy... we never used it for the real purpose!

We have a bidet in Florida. They're getting more and more common down there in the newer developments. In Palm Beach they're made of gold lol.

Today marks 55 years that Humphrey Bogart died (January 14, 1957).

I was going to pm you last year about this book, SC. But I forgot blush.

It's the new Bogart bio, and it's the most throrough one I've read yet. I think you'll like it.

Are any of the channels showing his movies today? Even though I have it on DVD, I still love to catch "Casablanca" on TV. It's like a nice surprise, like a little gift.

One of the channels had "Knock On Any Door" but I checked and didn't see it followed up with more HB movies.

Btw, I actually remember my dad reading the article in the paper when Bogart died with a small picture of him in the corner of the paper. Don't have any idea why I remember but I do. confused Needless to say I was extremely young. wink

On the news last night, they carried the story about the cruise ship that ran aground off the coast of Italy. There are still dozens missing, but today they rescued two people who were trapped INSIDE the boat!

During which decades were Cabby Patch Dolls and Beanie Babies the most popular?

Cabbage Patch dolls were the 1980s and Beanie Babies the 1990s, I think. I remember my nieces wanting the dolls and my kids collecting the Beanies, so that seems about right given their ages.

Edit: According to Wikipedia, Cabbage Patch dolls were presented to a worldwide audience at the 1983 International Toy Fair in NYC, and that started the craze in time for that year's holiday season.

As for Beanie Babies, Wikipedia claims 1995-1999 were the hot years.

I always found those dolls...unsettling. One of my cousins had one growing up. That thing haunted my dreams for years.
