Mean Joe Greene and Matt Millen speak on Suh

Quote:
“If it happens in the game, there's a place for it,” Greene said Monday night in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. “If you haven't played interior defensive line, you won't know and you'll never know what it's like in there.

.......
Suh's stomp startled many viewers, who tuned in on Thanksgiving. But Matt Millen, echoing Hunter's comments, said he'd seen that and worse up close many times during his career that started a few decades ago with the notorious Oakland Raiders.

“I played against Conrad Dobler, who would bite or kick you, and what Ndamukong did in comparison is small potatoes,” said Millen, a four-time Super Bowl-winning linebacker and former Lions general manager. “What he did was par for the course back in the day.

The Lions will get their brains beat out by the Saints. We could have handled the Giants.
It's a little disappointing to get used by Green Bay's second string.

For next year we obviously need a running back but also another defensive end. Need to massively upgrade the secondary.

Our only chance is that Brees goes in gun-slinging and throwing into coverage.

Lilo, the Lions scare me. You never know what to expect when you play them. If I were The Saints I would be preparing for ANYTHING! Now that my Bears are hibernating, I can root for my second team - Bengals.

the sox have to get rid of kenny williams, to really start rebuilding. but, yea it will be a fun spring/summer. it might be awhile for the cubs since it does take awhile to rebuild from the ground up.

I pulled this off of the ESPN website. It is spooky:

On Jan. 8, 2012, three years to the date that he caused millions of football fans to Google the meaning of John 3:16, Tebow played his first playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. And … Tebow threw for 316 yards. Tebow averaged 31.6 yards per completion, the highest single-game postseason completion average in NFL history. Ben Roethlisberger's second-quarter interception, which led to a Matt Prater field goal and a 17-6 Broncos lead, came on a third-and-16.The Steelers finished the game with a time of possession of 31:06.And at the time Tebow threw the game-winning 80-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas -- the NFL's longest postseason pass in overtime history -- CBS' final quarter-hour overnight ratings were, yes, a 31.6.

Basketball is not the biggest sport in the UK but we do have a fairly good league which is getting popular...and my team the Newcastle Eagles are the best, winning another trophy yesterday to make them the most successful English team ever cool

Also my eldest boy also plays basketball for his school and they have a big game this afternoon to win a tournament so good luck to him smile

Come and Get Some!!! lol cool

Quote:

There are great college sports rivalries all over the country, but few can compare with the intensity of Michigan and Ohio State. The bordering Midwestern states harbor a legendary threshold of hate for one another, the likes of which can even make Red Sox and Yankees fans blush.

Still, what happened to one Ohio native who dared cross state lines recently went beyond any sense of pride or rationality into a nearly scary situation … and may have given motivation to both teams come next November.
As first reported by the Michigan football blog Tremendous and It's Always Sunny in Detroit, Michigan commitment Kyle Kalis received numerous threats from Ohio State fans after he committed to play for the Wolverines this fall. In fact, the threats were explicit and incredibly brazen, with more than one fan chiming in to say they hoped the offensive lineman tore his ACL.
Of course, there's a reason why the hatred for Kalis was particularly fierce; he had previously committed to Ohio State before opening his future back up after the firing of Jim Tressel.
Here's how Kalis described the treatment he received from Ohio State fans in an interview with Tremendous:
"There are really a lot of stupid people out there. I'd get people telling me they wanted me to tear my ACL. I got plenty of threats. I know it was bad, but I gave my address out to about 20 people and told them to come find me. Nobody came."

While Kalis was surprisingly magnanimous in his handling of the threats -- the senior claims that he simply brushed them all off during the season -- he also patently refused to back away from controversy himself. The Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward lineman said that the reaction by Ohio State fans would serve as inspiration for his future success at Michigan, and took a particularly aggressive tone when asked about the 2012 game between the Big Ten rivals, which will be played in Columbus.
"There will be blood on the field and it won't be mine. … Quote it. Let them know."
Strong words from a strong teenager, with plenty more in the full interview which can be read here. Still, those sentiments and the hostility Kalis has already received may be an ominous sign for future tensions between a resurrected Michigan program and an Ohio State football family which will be desperate to regain the success of the Tressel era under new coach Urban Meyer.

I was just looking at some stats associated with the '72 undefeated Dolphins. Their heaviest defensive player was 265 lbs.

Wow. These days a D lineman starts @ 300+ lbs. I remember back in 1985, William "Refrigerator" Perry was such a novelty because he was 300 lbs. The times they are a changing...

Let's take it back to the 60's. I remember watching this guy on TV.

Roger Brown

Brown was drafted in the 4th round, 42nd overall, in the 1960 NFL Draft out of Maryland Eastern Shore by the Detroit Lions. Played in the College All-star game in Chicago vs the Baltimore Colts. Played with the original fearsome foursome, with Alex Karras, Sam Williams and Darris McCord, He was named the 1962 Outstanding Defensive Lineman in the league, and set a record by sacking both Bart Starr and Johnny Unitas for safeties in one season, an NFL record. He played for the Lions through the 1966 season, then was traded to the Los Angeles Rams. Was known for his performance in the "Thanksgiving Day Massacre" game against the Green Bay Packers in 1962 where he sacked Bart Starr 6 times, including one for a safety.

During his stint with the Rams, Brown, along with Deacon Jones, Lamar Lundy, and Merlin Olsen formed the "Fearsome Foursome", the most feared defensive line at the time. He retired after three seasons with the Rams, ending a career in which he was an NFL Pro Bowl player for 6 straight seasons (1962-1967) and a 2-time first-team All-Pro (1962 and 1963). Brown was the first NFL player to have a playing weight over 300 lb but his size and speed made him one of the most dynamic players of the time
