I didn't remember it was his birthday. Happy Birthday Paul!!!!! He is missed. Boy, would he ever be active politically right now, don't you think? smile

I think we are the same age. Yet he use to have to rub it in that I was the oldest because if I'm not mistaken I am a few months older.

Although you are so far away,
our hearts have kept you near.

The pain has eased a bit I guess,
yet it has not really gone away.
It will always stay a part of us,
until we are with you again one day.

Happy Birthday in heaven friend,
from all our hearts to yours.

With fantasy football coming up, I remember the time Plaw and I spent an inordinate amount of time chatting on the point system for kickers (although it didn't surpass the amount of time we spent discussing the point system for a blown save in baseball).

Fun times lol

Yeah, those were some fun times. I think he would have liked to create his own league with his rules...they way it SHOULD be played according to him. lol

I would have loved to have heard his take on the 2010 political scene.. the Tea Party etc. For whatever reason I know he would have had an insght the rest of us overlooked.

Yeah, really. It's hard to believe it's been a high-school-career since we last saw our friend. And he'll be no less missed 4 years, or 40 years, from now.

All I know is he'd be very disappointed in my fantasy baseball placement the past couple years, but at least pleased that I've half-ruled football. I am glad he didn't witness the Nets recent woes, tho. whistle

Love and miss you, Plaw!

I can't believe how quickly the time has passed and yet I have a feeling the memory will always be much closer even as years go by.

I would just love to read what his comments would be, especially during this "hot" political season. smile

So strange. Since most of our time together was either on the phone or on the internet, it sometimes seem that knowing him was a dream. What a lovely dream, though, my prince! Your babe misses you and thinks of you often.

This past week I went out to lunch to get a slice of pizza. When I sat down to eat it as I folded the slice it actually broke because the crust was overcooked and too thin.

Instead of getting annoyed I began to laugh thinking about the story Paul once told me about the time he had a fight in a pizza place because his slice of pizza broke in half becoming unfoldable. While he was telling me the story I could hear in his voice that he was getting himself work up all over again! lol lol lol

That almost brought a tear to my eye as I could picture Plaw sitting typing that and his reaction. This Thanksgiving I am truly thankful for his friendship.

And I'm thinking of him today because of the anniversary of JFK's assassination. He had a ton of books on the topic. I've never really met anyone else with that same level/depth of knowledge.

Whenever I watch GOODFELLAS, and the Billy Batts scene starts, I immediately think of Plaw's chance meeting of Frank Vincent at a basketball game. I always get a good chuckle thinking about Plaw being completely starstruck, and putting his foot in his mouth when he tells him "I bet I'm the only person here who knows who you are!" lol lol

I'll be thinking of Plaw during baseball season. I think basketball was his favorite sport to watch. But fantasy baseball season was brutal. Even this year's thread, and the season hasn't even started yet. haha. Plaw I'm sure is somewhere watching and reading it and shaking his head.

oh yeah, fantasy baseball... that's a never ending source of fun for me, and for me, fantasy baseball and plawrence run side by side. the point system he came up with for blown saves still puzzles me (I think it's genious) and even though I still have fun with our league, I know we'll never match those days when plaw supplied a daily chart with owner's stats and such.

I'm relatively young and haven't had to deal with that many occasions when a dear friend has passed away. have to say I still don't know how to deal with it and that's why it took me a long, long time to read this thread as well as plaw's Godfather sequel. a short while ago someone started a thread saying that these boards were dying and I remember thinking "no, it's alright; it's just that we don't have plaw anymore". I always thought he was the one who made these boards a special place with his insightful, active posting. just a quick peek at this page of this thread and there are some good plaw stories. RIP plaw wink
